Yep, they were...unfortunately, that remains their LAST world championship too...

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll win another one...I figure after they go through 150-200 years without one, the league'll just give them one because everyone feels bad...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Denver Broncos.

Although, for the sake of workplace politics - I also like the dallas cowboys, texas rangers, dallas stars (i don't like basketball)

only reason why i've gotta support those teams is that one of our customers owns (or part owns) one of the above mentioned dallas teams

yes, I work in a RICH neighbourhood.

Actually, polo is the oldest team sport recorded. It was played in Persia, Pakistan, India, Tibet, China, and Mongolia long before any others. The Mongolians used to play it with the decapitated heads of their opponents. Polo was actually played before the Egyptians even had an organized civilization.

Brandi - that would make it the first game, and why isn't it called the egyptian pasttime then?

Billy - If you do all that training in the minors, why are there some guys built like houses playing in the majors? Also, the object in golf isn't to catch the ball...it's to put it into a little cup. And there is that huge mit on the end of his hand that golfers don't wear. One time my friend got hit by a golf ball that broke his leg....so injuries don't define a sport.

My point is that you do see fat guys "running" the bases at times and fat guys golfing and bowling. Not too many fat guys out on the ice playing hockey.

Guys like Tiger are the exception to golf, not the rule.

Now don't take offense, because games like baseball and golf are hard and require a lot of skill, but don't necessarily require a lot of athletecism.

ok - I'll admit I'm a little biased towards hockey, it is my favorite sport and all.

one last thing:

"The symptoms of Osgood-Schlatter Disease include pain over the bump just below your knee cap, usually worsened by exercise that involves repeated bending and straightening of the knee and by the direct force on that area. Treatment consists of limiting activities, putting ice on the area, and using something for the pain. If the knee pain occurs during running and jumping, cutting back on the intensity of training during this period of rapid growth should help in relieving the acute symptoms.

With contact sports like football or soccer, the use of a kneepad to protect the tender bump can also be helpful."

My doctor said it was ok to play baseball with this disease

LOL, j/k. While I do see your point, I think baseball is indeed a sport because you have to be in some sort of shape to play it. You do not see 300 lb people who can't run playing baseball.
Case and point-We always had to put in a pinch runner for this one kid on my brother's little league team because the hitter was a big kid.
Also, it was the first sport, dating back to relgious rituals during the Ejyptian Period

LMAO, tell ya what matt, I'll just handle a little of the flaming with a little of my own stuff

[flame]

I played baseball all through high school and ran 20 poles (that's along the warning track from foul pole to foul pole) a day plus a 3-5 mile run every day. I suck at trig, otherwise I could actually figure up the distance of poles in feet for ya. Instead, I'm just gonna guess 200 feet. So that all works out to approximately 5 miles a day in running. We practiced in such a manner organized from the start of January (I've actually played a game in a snowstorm) until the end of May (And TX summer starts around March). By some quick addition, that's 20 weeks. Now for the real math...
5 miles/day*5 days/week*20 weeks/season = 500 miles of running

Oops...I left out the wind sprints, hills, bleachers, and baserunning practice we did every day...oh well, they were only about 1 hour of practice daily, so I'm sure they didn't add up to much...

FORTUNATELY, I was just a pitcher-only. Therefore, I got to skip out on the timed 40's, 100's, singles, doubles, triples, and 4 corners sprints...

Also FORTUNATELY, I only played in HIGH SCHOOL. Granted, my high school was ranked in the top ten in the nation, but I now attend Texas Tech, a DECENT Division 1 university, and I can't play for them because I'm not in good enough SHAPE...

Of course, I'm SURE that all this training only occurs down in the amatuer ranks. I'll bet none of those major leaguers actually do any of this kind of stuff nowadays...

And as for the comparison to golf, I remember a stat on Tiger that said he could bench-press something like 240 lbs, but I'm sure it's just so he looks ripped under that Nike Polo he's wearing...

And for my final thing to point out, I happen to be a huge Ken Griffey Jr. fan, and I can't remember the last time a professional golfer disintegrated his wrist by jumping into a wall at full speed...and DIDN'T drop the ball

[/flame]

I'll give you a little information on Buffalo Billy.

It's the best city EVER

You guys just need to forget about the baaseball stuff anyways. It's not even a sport. The players of a sport must be in shape to play that sport. baseball (which I've played) fall under the GAME category with ..... golf.

*stands prepared to be flamed.....
