Fish as instore display | |
wish-ga Mega Fish Dial 1800-Positive-Posts Posts: 1198 Kudos: 640 Registered: 07-Aug-2001 | A shop near me has a ***edit*** size is about 20CM (8+inches) oscar in a tank that is way too small. Poor guy can hardly turn, let along get a swim up. I wish shops wouldn't do that. It isn't an lfs. Just a shop that thinks a fish on show would be cool. How does this happen? Makes me sad when I see that poor wishie (I mixed my number and scale it is not a 20inch oscar as I originally said, I sarted in cm and ended in inches... tres confusement) ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

When I used to rescue them, they lived perfectly well in bowls on my desk in my room, with proper care and attention. Surely a well-maintained betta is 1000x better than a goldfish in a bowl? I have worked at several public sector places with beautiful, well maintained display tanks, kept by fish enthusiasts on the staff. They were very beneficial for clients especially the children (one place was a centre for children with disabilities (specifically children with limb amputations) and they loved sitting watching the fish. I was always so worried whenever we had aggressive clients that they would put a chair or a fist through the tanks. That;'s why I'd prefer these public sector tanks to be outside of clients' reach, though not view. ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions |

If I ever had a shop and had a tank on display. Bet I would have some kind of protective glass in front of it to prevent any crazies from touching it in anyway Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |
