Okay, I briefly saw something in someone's car, and wondered if it was possible.

They had what looked like a tube in the center console between the seats of their car. It went up to the ceiling. It had water, and what looked to be a real fish swimmin in there. The tube was maybe 6 inches in diamter.

I really couldn't tell if this was a real fish or not. It was a quick look as I was getting into my car at the lfs.

It would be cool, but I can't see that it would be healthy for the fish...all that sloshing around, how do you get food in there, and the HEAT in a car, or the Cold.

I would be cool even if it was a fake fish.

Anyone ever see this? Real or Not?

Never seen it...I would never put real fish in a car...out of curiousity I left a thermometer in my car once...it broke from the heat...I've also turned on the fan before the car had a chance to cool a bit, ended up heating up my necklace enough that I had little burn marks on my neck for a few days.

maybe that's why I don't wear jewlery anymore

On MTV there's a show called, " My Ride".. If you haven't seen it before, they pretty much take a car that's about to fall apart because the super glue/duct tape can't hold it together anymore and turn it "fabulous" (and I'm using that term extremely loosely)..

On one of the shows they actually put a goldfish tank into the backseat of the car, so I know folks attempt to do it ~ but I doubt that the poor fish had much of a chance.. Here in Texas that aquarium would be a big goldfish soup bowl come August.. I believe that show is based out of California, so I doubt it stays cool enough there come summer to work..

Fish in the car has been around for quite a while, made popular by fellow car stereo installer Dave "fishman" Riviera. He was trying to outdo everyone at a competition once, and amidst all the fiberglass and stereos and neons, he put a fish tank in the back of one of his displays, and he's since become one of the most well known and well respected custom car audio installers of our time.

Well, if you really wanted to go all out you could do this... could be a challenge to drive anywhere though

That's in the Melbourne Aquarium... Kinda hard to make it out, but yes, the whole thing is full of water.

Not to be the cynical one in the crowd, but ... I can just see some stupid teenager running over and opening the door. I assume it's locked?

i dont think you can open the door, i think they have been sealed and locked in every possible way, because almost everyone that walks past it trys to open the car. So yeah

They did that on another ride too! (really don't normally watch the show was on at my drs office while waiting) so anywhoo, a jeep got a betta tank between the driver and passenger. It was acrylic and looked pretty cool, even though very unpractical, the temp fluctuations would kill the fish.

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

Yeah, the stocking in it is abomnable... and they left the fabric seats in... which are rotting, as fabric does... so it's rather scungy, in fact you've gotta really get up close to figure out what's in it... and then once you DO figure out what's in there you wish you hadn't looked...

The whole thing's sealed to keep the water in... so no, you can't open the doors... the sunroof is open though, so you CAN actually stick your hand in there if you're that way inclined... not that i did that of course

Oleta said it best for Texas, August you would have fish stew, heck there is one part of Texas where the only time of the year you wouldn't get stew would be December and January...Heck, ya'll Texas is Hot almost year around...Heidi

I love that show my Ride. Except I am not a fan of the fish in the car concept. They should put a fake fish in there for the look and avoid the cruelty. A car is not appropriate for fish...we all know why.

X to the Zee is so funny. I don't know his music but like him as the host of that show.
