Hello everyone. We are now in the proud possession of GR's guppies. Some of you have already shown interest in receiving some of these guppies and/or the spawns thereof.

GR was indeed recently trying to breed the cobra type guppies, as a lot of you probably already knew due to the hurricanes. He lost all of his beloved Clown Loaches during this last hurricane season, knocking out his power for weeks at a time. After all of that tradjedy he decided to restock his tanks with cobra type guppies and breed them. *sigh* Unfortunately as everyone knows, he is now unable to do so....

There are three types of guppies that we received. Their coloring is absolutely stunning although I believe we can work on the actual "cobra" quality in them. I myself was already breeding two types of cobras and one type of leopard so I am honored to be able to continue on with breeding GR's too on behalf of his wife. She was so appreciative of those who contributed money to receive some of the guppies. Those of you who have already been apart of this will get a chance to view pics and decide which type you would like to receive.

I believe by selectively breeding the three (actually 6) types we have, the future offspring will be awesome. When Shannen picked them up they were all mixed together so the females are currently fertalized with "who knows which". The top fins are very long on the males and flowy (sp?), quite pretty.

The next step is to separate all six of the types. The females get along perfectly fine together but the males need to be separated more and need to be held as close as possible with the ratio recommended with keeping guppies. I am not entirely sure right now if we have enough of the older females to put with which of the males but there is a whole lot of smaller juvies. I am finally able to distinguish the type a now that they have settled in more and the "stress" has worn off of them from moving into a totally different environment.

I make this post to share our experience and love of fish keeping. We love it and we love coming to this website. They should make a section on this website called “FPA” (instead of AA) "fish profiles anonymous…". “hello my name is Jamie and I am a fish-aholic. I currently have 20+ tanks….” Although not as many as some folks like ACIDRAIN, I think a lot of us share the same weakness on one scale or another.
Thank you for visiting my post and have a wonderful day!

Does anyone else have any "love of fishkeeping" story they would like to share?

"Hello, I'm Stephanie... I last rearranged my tank... t-the whole tank... yesterday. ...three times in one day."

The FPA sounds like a funny idea, heh heh.

It's great you got those guppies. Make sure to show us what the babies look like!

they are beautiful fish. I love fish, I am goldfishgeek and I have three tanks,

I spent an hour crying tonight because of one of my keyhole cichlids is sick and just hanging on and i have no clue what to do.

i have a tank with female bettas and I have trained(sort of) these girls to jump up to get their food(any one who spoils my fun and reminds me this is natural behaviour will be severely dealt with)

my livebearers have also got the habit of gathering in the feeding corner of the tank. this brings me untold joy when i get in from stinky work(v stinky and annoying at the moment)

And even my poor abused Clown loaches (and i swear this is true cos they are doing it right now - can you see them?)all gather at the "desk" end of the tank and watch me type. this also brings me joy when wrting a stinky essay.

when much of life is stinky you can rely on your fish.

GFG
