wish-ga Mega Fish Dial 1800-Positive-Posts Posts: 1198 Kudos: 640 Registered: 07-Aug-2001 | Thanks Alex... All that art literature and church.... hum. Some of the European style icons are quite swoon-worthy Even better if you can get a book like a bio on the life of Michelangelo or Da Vinci and a print that features in the book. eg The Agony and the Ecstasy: A Biographical Novel of Michelangelo by Irving Stone Celebrating the 500th anniversary of Michelangelo's David, New American Library releases a special edition of Irving Stone's classic biographical novel-in which both the artist and the man are brought to life in full. A masterpiece in its own right, this novel offers a compelling portrait of Michelangelo's dangerous, impassioned loves, and the God-driven fury from which he wrested the greatest art the world has ever known. Fantastic book for someone interested in Art and Anthropology (or cultures) is this one; Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay Journalist Finlay's first book is a blend of travelogue and historical exploration about the myriad ways color takes on meaning for us, whether as a matter of aesthetics, economics, war or culture. You are an Aussie, so swing by the ABC shop and check out the ABC shop for dvd docos Check Art Galley of NSW shop online for ideas. Often have jewellry that has an art tie-in or art books etc. In fact here is a link to their Christmas catalogue. nsw.gov.au/shop/xmas06" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/shop/xmas06 Think about getting gallery membership eg friends of Powerhouse Museum or something that entitles you to a discount and special events you can attend together. Don't forget lipgloss.... keepin' her kissable! With lipgloss you don't have to worry about getting the colour right.... not like with lipstick which is very shade sensitive. ...........or a nurf ball ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

Has italian greyhound, horses, cow, etc etc. Went above and beyond for many people this year, including buying me a lovely coat for my new dog when I had no idea what I was doing. Problem: flat broke. I also don't have her address. Do you think it would be an OK gesture to construct a website for her for her home craft business? Or do you think that is worse than doing nothing at all? I;m concerned it may be somewhat undervaluing her. |

wish-ga Mega Fish Dial 1800-Positive-Posts Posts: 1198 Kudos: 640 Registered: 07-Aug-2001 | would also like to get her something to do with christianity or similar Alex, many of the artworks are Christian ba Calla gave you a good idea too. There are many stalls at the mall that have little modern looking glass crosses on a thread/leather. Shouldn't be as expensive as gold jewellery. Koorong may have something like that too. Calla, I think that website ides sounds fantastic. The time it takes and the thought that goes into doing that for her are beyond a dollar value. Especially if it is something she doesn't have the time to do for herself or the confidence to tackle. I think a website as a starting point that her home business can grow into would be most appreciated. Anyone else? ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

Usually she is very easy but I'm having trouble coming up with something really special. Since we only give and receive one gift each, I'd like it to be something she really wants. She is a 27-year-old flight attendant (so she's not home very often, which means that home-ba My fiance is actually buying for her partner, so we were thinking that we could combine and buy them a joint present, but not sure what. They love playing video games together and have bought the new Nintendo Wii, so I was thinking of maybe buying them one of those new iCush chair thingys, but again there is the problem that my sister is probably not home enough to enjoy it. Any other ideas? The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde |

I am not very techno au fait. What is the price limit? Know what I ahve always wanted one of those Sony backlit universal remotes you can activate dvd/video/stereo etc from..... that's just me though and I guess noone needs to know that. Does the she-sibling travel with a laptop? Webcam so they can 'see' eachother while sis is travelling? ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

just beginning Moderator Literature Nerd Posts: 1879 Kudos: 1380 Votes: 198 Registered: 17-Dec-2000 | Price limit I suppose is around $100, more if we combine for her and her boyfriend. She's a domestic flight attendant, not international, so when I say she's away a lot, she is home at least one or two nights a week. She doesn't have a laptop, she doesn't use a computer all that much at all as far as I know. I was considering maybe season passes for one of the theme parks on the Gold Coast - they're very cheap right now, and they both love those sort of rides. But again, not sure because I doubt their days off coincide often enough to go together. The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde |

wish-ga Mega Fish Dial 1800-Positive-Posts Posts: 1198 Kudos: 640 Registered: 07-Aug-2001 | What about juicing up a DVD service. My colleagues used to belong to one that mailed you dvds instead of having to go and borrow them. You select the titles you and and they send you an available selection from the shortlist you provided. That way they would have DVDs to enjoy together but not the hassle of going to get them. And they can post 'em back when they are done. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

wish-ga Mega Fish Dial 1800-Positive-Posts Posts: 1198 Kudos: 640 Registered: 07-Aug-2001 | Do they have kickin' speakers hooked up to their tv when they play their video games? Or what about this..... Because of your sister's work they may keep separate hours. So how about head phones so one can play video games without disturbing the other person who is sleeping. My friend's husband does this when he plays all hours. Adds to the realism too. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

After consultation with mum I've decided to go for the theme park passes. It'll give them something fun to do together when they do have time off. I do like the headphones idea though (although, I think their bedroom is pretty far from the living room). It's something my partner and I do as well, he has a good DJ quality pair and they come in handy when he has to go to bed at 9pm to get up for an early start and I keep watching TV until 11 or so.
