about 50/50, an equal blend of lipgloss and woodchips

I feel really lucky to live in a time and place that allows me the freedom to let the 'real' me show... whoever she is at the time! Most days I wear no makeup, jewellery or nail polish. I own a chainsaw and know how to use it. I know enough about things mechanical and electrical that I can fix any minor problems myself.

On the other hand I enjoy getting dressed up, made-up and hair up to go out in the evenings. When I'm in my high heels, dangly ear-rings and form-fitting clothes, I'm as feminine as anyone. And I'm not beyond batting my eyelashes at some poor unsuspecting guy and getting him to do all the heavy lifting and dirty jobs for me! It ROCKS to be a gal!

For the most part I am a tomboy - when I was born I was the last baby and ANOTHER girl (dad ended up with 4 - he wanted a boy SO bad) so my dad made the best of it and started calling me "Jake" and did all kinds of "boy" things with me (fishing, dirtbikes, building stuff.....SO much fun stuff!!!). It rubbed off and to this day you are more likely to see me in jeans and a t-shirt than a dress. The upside is that once a year I get a chance to go ALL girl when the Marine Corps ball rolls around.....nothing like a night out in a fancy gown complete with hair and make-up to help you get through another 364 days of tomboy stuff....

I care about my appearance and I like to be feminine (hard not be to when you're 5ft and weigh about 50kg!), but I don't obsess. I'm not a manicured type, I'm quite happy to bring out my hippy side and wallow in mud. And I'm not a very regular leg-shaver . Basically, I have more important things to do than groom myself most of the time, but when it comes down to it I like to look and feel pretty girly!

Ok, secret coming out, at a New Years Eve party me and a few mates dressed up as girls

Also I was on holiday to croatia and was down this club (outdoor, not proper one) and I had to hold about 3 peoples handbags :%)
So I was dancing in this club with 3 handbags :%)

I try not to wear make-up everyday. Definitely hate jewellery.

I am slightly on the plumper side, and was a tomboy in school. Never been ugly tho, just unruly.

I am still that way I think.

Personally, jewellery is nice in small numbers and makeup is a waste of money, always have bought the cheapest brands and felt loads of guilt after buying.

...refer thread haircut trauma from pre-teen years when ppl thought I was a boy. I am a GIRL, and a very girly one at that...my haircut trauma meant that the outside looked like a boy and didn't match the inside....so now my girly girl outside matches the inside.

I'm way late in voting on this but since my name did spark this poll I decided to vote now...almost 2 weeks later!! I voted: outwardly girly but when push comes to shove, I'm the first in the mud

My name might be girlie girl but I don't wear dresses all the time...just to church...and I love my jeans! I like to do tomboyish things too (like fish) but like someone else said..i hate getting dirt under my nails..and getting dirty period.

Sorry I'm late..i just don't look at this forum much...guess i should! Maybe now those who didn't vote before can vote...or atleast put their 2 cents in! Thanks!

I knit, sew, fix cars, mend furniture, hook up all the dvd/video/sound system and chase the spiders away from my boyfriend, does that make me a tomboy or my boyfriend a girly man?

I voted:
I'm a bit rough and tumble but I enjoy the odd bit of pampering

Let's face it, I'd rather be in jeans anytime, and I don't mind going out there and getting dirty...just don't get it under my nails ok? But, I usually insist on getting a little pampering twice a month, manicure and pedicure...except well, lately...missed my manicure and pedicure, a little over a week ago, now I'm at 2 weeks I guess...so tonight I started cutting my finger nails myself, and ripping the overlays off...oh yeah, my hands look great now! heidi

I never wear dresses, but I won't leave the house without makeup.

I hate to be treated differently just because I'm a girl, and that can be difficult in this hobby because it is largely male-dominated. Sometimes male employees at other LFS treat me like I don't know anything about fish, and on more than one occasion at work, male customers have refused my advice or help.]

I actually consider myself a bit of of a feminist rather than a tomboy...

Come on, Noodles, you know you like lip gloss. And we shouldn't scare you Hiedi. We're just men in touch with our feminine side. Secure enough in our masculinity to sing, "I feel pretty" in the shower.

Oh so pretty, Mike

And we pity any girl who isn't Mike today

I'm a jeans and no makeup girl, but I do appreciate being clean and I do wear nail polish... on my toes, fingers and tanks dont mix

I'm less rough and tumble than I used to be, so i'll probably go with 50/50

Alright, I submit. Lip gloss wins at life.

Also...

I feel pretty, Oh so pretty...
I feel pretty, and witty, and gay!
And I pity, and girl [boy] who isn't me today...

I feel charming, Oh so charming...
It's alarming, how charming, I feel!
And so pretty, that I hardly can believe I'm real.

It slightly frightens me that I have memorized the entire song by wrote.

I think I'd raise eyebrows if I voted any way but the expected in this thread somehow. Although since I don't feel left out, I'll abstain. And leave the interminable musings on the gender confusion surrounding my board name under the rug where they belong

I did find the prospect of two of our male posters setting up the FP cross dressers' society rather amusing though You guys been watching Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert by any chance?

I am outwardly girly but when push comes to shove I am the first to dive in the mud.

I wear high heels with my jeans and have a wardrobe that can have me out to dinner in a gown in 20 minutes flat. Probably no less than 30 pairs of heels. Don't have to wear much make up, and enjoy making the guys turn their heads. That is the outwardly girly part of me.

Problem is I enjoy all those things that are a little less than girly. I do all of the work and modifications on my trucks. The prospect of getting greasy and tweaking my truck is exciting. Going off roading hey COUNT ME IN! I enjoy gardening, canning, yep I can sew too. I also enjoy camping, hiking, going out on a lake, and ROAD TRIPPING!

I am having serious withdrawl, it is about 80 degrees outside. Right now I should be dropping the gear box to fix a leak, and probably the high pressure lines for the power steering should be replaced. I just can't wait to get home.

uhm, that is just me.

Well, I really don't like wearing dresses but do wear them to church. I don't have the time for makeup & don't like the feeling of wearing it. I bite my nails so I don't wear nail polish. I only wear my wedding rings but don't like other jewelry. See where I'm going with this? LOL

I like things like feeding my fish live worms, feeding the songbirds live mealworms, stuff like that. I love toads, frogs, & newts. I love all animals except snakes. I think the most girly thing I'd like to do is figure skate like I did when I was a teen. Oh, I like wearing perfume if that counts for anything. Other than that, I don't mind working outdoors, in the garden, around the house, etc.

I have 4 boys & 1 girl...ironically enough, she is the girliegirl/frilly type!!! She wants the makeup, polished nails, frilly clothing, jewelry, etc... Go figure!!! She thinks most everything I do is "gross" LOL. Now my boys think I'm "cool". I'll hold their snakes, snapping turtles, ride the motorcycle, stuff like that. I love playing baseball too.

I'm 50/50.

I wear makeup every day, since my eyelashes are nearly transparent. It comes with being a redhead and if I don't, I think it looks scary . Usually only mascara, but sometimes coverup, eyeshadow, or eyeliner. I like to wear the occasional dress, but only if it looks good. I like to wear short skirts . But usually you'll find me in jeans. I love climbing trees, always have. I don't usually care about getting dirty, as long as I don't have somewhere to be.

I used to be a complete tomboy. Ugh, I was such an ugly little kid . I had short hair so I wouldn't eat it , and I still didn't brush it very often. I had really puffy little gopher cheeks too. I believe my favorite outfit once was these longish brown corderoy shorts and a big green shirt. Blech .

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

About 50/50 I would say. I like to be pampered, but I also like to throw my hair up in a ponytail and go climb around in the hills. I wear makeup when I feel like it, and dresses on occasion... but don't throw away my jeans and t-shirts! LOL! I love physical, adventurous activities, but I also love having my toenails painted. My eyebrows are always plucked, but my fingernails are kept short because I prefer function over form when it comes to my hands... although I wont be parted from platinum and diamonds on my hands at ALL times! LOL! I guess I am about as directly centered as you can get... a tomboy who enjoys primping... LOL! :%)

I'm a tomboy. I don't like the color pink. I wear lip gloss about three times a year (other makeup - never). All that stuff is fine and dandy for some gals... it's just not me. I'd rather be outside catching frogs than in front of my closet trying to figure out what to wear. I prefer action films to "chick flicks" (unless said chick flick is really funny, in which case I might enjoy it). There aren't many girls I know who are less girly than I am (shockingly enough, I do know at least one). And I'll admit that I do enjoy dressing up on occasion, like I did on Easter. Overall though... very much the tomboy.

On your average day, you'll find me in jeans or my bondage pants, nothing particularly fancy. I generally pair them with a somewhat feminine shirt if I'm going anywhere, though. T-shirts are usually left for home.

However, I do admit to dressing up whenever I feel like it. I used to be more of a tomboy, but now I wear skirts whenever the mood strikes me. I don't wear makeup on a normal basis, but I have plenty of it.

My one vanity are my nails, which I keep fairly long. Unlike some people, though, I have NO problems with performing activities with them... I can type 70+ wpm, open soda cans, blah blah blah. No issues. I paint them when the mood strikes me, usually fun, funky colors (purple, blue...). I also don't fuss when I break or chip a nail, unless it cracks down too low and actually hurts. Oh, or when they chip/break right before a party or whatever. Drat it all.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~
