Hey everyone,

My friend is over and she told me that she need to do a report on the habitat and enviroment of wild goldfish. She doesn't have a computer at home, so I figured I'd ask you guys. If you could tell me the habitat, and some info on native goldfish, or have a website that has goldfish information on it, it would help a lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Region: Originally from China, now introduced into temperate waters the world over.

The hobby of fish-keeping owes its populatiry more than anything else to the Goldfish. They are mentioned as early as 970 AD by the Chinese, and in the sixteenth century the care and breeding of Goldfish, which were at first playthings of the nobility, became common place and a number of fancy breeds of Goldfish available today. We see such freakish fish as the Lionheads, Pompons, Telescopes, Celestials, Eggfish, and many others too numerous for this small space. There are fish with short single fins and others with long flowing fins. Some breeds have double fins; some have large, sail-like dorsal fins; and others have no dorsal fin at all. I know that is just a beginning...a book I would recommend is: Goldfish: A Complete Owner's Guide That is just one I own, though can't find it offhand
