I offered the Akita breeder a deal she couldn't refuse. 2 of my best young horses I was going to sell this spring in exchange for pick of her next litter. So I get a puppy this fall if her husband doesn't kill me before then. Hopefully everything goes alright and there is a healthy litter in a couple months.

My dog ran off with that holey sock.... My bad.

I'll put on a new one and run around on the concrete to get it all holey and send it to you.

Oh my gosh! Two horses for 1 puppy! Well, then I'll assume they are very well bred puppies!

Congrats on the new soon to be puppy then!

Man! I can just see you looking the litter over trying to make that big decision on which one to pick! I would be a nervous wreck trying to decide on one based on coloring and or behavior! I have trouble trying to choose between two things, let alone about 6!

Good luck with that by the way. I'm sure you will pick the best one!

I don't think I need anymore holey socks but more saddle cleaning rags are always useful.

By only monetary value the horses are worth quite a bit more than an akita puppy. However the reserve list on the akitas is also so long they probably will not have enough litters to ever fill it. They've even had requests to ship puppies overseas so I could be waiting a very long time if I hadn't bumped myself to the top of the list. The only decision I've made is that I'm going to try for a female of any color but black since fuzzy black akitas overheat easily in the summer and american bred male akitas tend to be agressive toward other dogs. Chances are though I'll get distracted by that puppy, and that puppy, and that puppy... The average akita litter is 7-8. I'll probably end up walking off with whatever cute little fuzzball I pick up first and never regretting it.

Getting good fresh bakery bread (ie without all those preservatives) on special , and finding a cheap brand of ramen noodles that come with 5 packs of additions rather than just the standard seasoning pack that taste better than the brand name stuff and is 20 cents a pack cheaper .

I think I caught the happiness with a catch disease.

Finally seeing my house listed... but under a different agents name

Finally after months getting notice that my posessions have arrived in australia....but having to pay another few hundered (I think we're up around $700 additional) and having to wait for quarrentine to finish with it (it's been 4 days).

Finally once my wetsuit clears quarentine being able to go out snorkeling without getting blue nails and chattering teeth...once Adams stitches are out

Finally starting to look at houses...but having to deal with a sellers market and the fact that my house isn't sold yet. Adams agreed to go to a few open houses this weekend in the area we're thinking of buying in.

Finally moving away from the capital beltway...only to deal with rush hour traffic in oz **.

Finally was able to start looking for a job...only to find that there's nothing out there for me other than menial labor...

I think I'll go iron my wedding dress (if vegemite ever settles down) then do my taxes, after vacuuming anyway... getting stuff done, thats happiness.

It was supposed to rain, but it didnt. We've got level 5 starting soon...

and...2 horses for 1 puppy ! I want to see pics of this expensive pup!

^_^

Those had better be some damn fine quality akita's for the money. Problem is that akitas outside of japan and china the genepool is very limited, and the ones in the western world are so interbred and really all related that they dont live as long or are as healthy. Most are lucky to make 9 years of age, and they have a load of problems like liver and pancreas disorders. Id make damn sure of the provenance before even handing over even one horse.

In the uk akitas are about 800 pounds sterling, but even a distinctly unspecial horse is usually about 2000 to 3000.

Make sure your not getting ripped off by a smooth operator there.

sorry, couldn't resist

happiness is finding out your company bought lunch for the managers but that there's plenty to go around so you don't have to spend your last dollar on eating out before you get paid tomorrow

Happiness for me is when I see a my sons smiling because they just learned how to do something on their own, and they tell me they Love me with a bear hug. When my wife tells me she loves me when I know she mad at me.

I guess I'm just a simple guy and just want my family healthy and happy.

I do highly recommend picking up a couple of kids, you never really know who you are until you give up everything for them.

Akitas in the US have the same problems as other akitas according to every thing I've read. Many breeds and animals also have limited gene pools but with responsible breeders can be successfully bred to have healthy offspring for unlimited generations. Even dog breeds with large gene pools have individuals with major common health problems due to poor breeding. I found the same amount of health problems listed for boston terriers, malamutes, border collies, and GSDs as for akitas. You do also have to take into consideration the japanese akita inu is actually considered a different breed by most so simlpy interbreeding the 2 to increase the gene pool becomes complicated. http://www.akita-inu.com/two_akita_breeds.htm

....moving boxes from garage to lounge room for the cat to play on.

She's so happy with her new jungle gym, wonder if she'll be mad at me when I unpack them .

And yes, as I predicted we did have to pay more , everything but the crate that I didnt pack my things on cleared quarentine. That cost us an extra $60+ to have destroyed....

Ah well, I've got my teddy bear and My Book House .

..........getting a used tank with fish that came with it, cleaned up, with some fresh water in it, decor added & a heater & a good meal in their bellies & then sitting back admiring the whole scene & imagining the fish are grateful for a caring new home. (cause that's what we tend to do sometimes......is transfer human emotions onto our fish)

happiness is...
Sitting in front of an open fire place trying to play bass with one hand around your girlfriend

happiness is...
Having a fun night with your band...playing guitar hero for 4 hours and having your drummer win...

happiness is...
comming back from a 2week trip NZ to see that you have 68text messages from people that knew you wouldnt be able to read/reply till you got home.

happiness is...
getting lost in the car with your gf. Refusing to read a map, coming up with improbable soloutions to find our way. Then to give up and just talk for a couple of hours about anything and everything. Finally getting the courage to turn the car back on, finding your way back home.

all without looking at a map

Happiness is witnessing your child being born.

Happiness is tucking the kids in for the night and sitting in a pitch black room with only the lights of your tank on and sipping on a glass of expensive scotch on the rocks.

Happiness is going to bed knowing you had a productive day.
