I never did like pecan pies & I'm trying to give up sweets altogether. I just find them too addictive............. the more I have the more I want. |

The Pilgrims were particularly thankful to Squanto, the Indian who taught them how to catch eel, grow corn and who served as an interpreter for them (Squanto had learned English on a previous trip to Europe). Without Squanto's help the Pilgrims might not have survived in the new world. The Pilgrims set apart a day to celebrate at Plymouth immediately after their first harvest, in 1621. At the time, this was not regarded as a Thanksgiving observance; harvest festivals were existing parts of English and Wampanoag tradition alike." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving Yes............it is a time to say what we are thankful for, along with a dinner of turkey & dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin & pecan pies & whatever other side dishes each family is used to having as their family tradition. |

Yes, it's an American holiday where we celebrate the Pilgrims making through a very difficult time when they came to America. They finally harvested some crops and managed to kill some birds (wild turkey being one of them) and they invited the Indians that helped to sit down to a giant feast that allegedly lasted for three days. Thank gawd ours only lasts one day...I don't think my waistline could take a 3 day feast feast! "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

Master Adam and I are recovering from our multiple thanksgiving meals. We had one Thanksgiving meal (lunch) here at my mothers, then went down to my step-dads oldest sisters house for pie and more dinner. Hope everyone remembered what's important, giving thanks to the FBI! ^_^ |

Wha'???? Master Alex have you not garnered a potted history from sitcoms like I have. I know all about that festival/holiday from Brady Bunch reruns & Friends episodes (football in the indoor cheap set park) and just about every other tv show set in America. Sabrina and Sam probably zapped themselves back for the real-time experience. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
