Happy Hedgehog Day! -- Pics | |
BluePhoenix Fish Addict Posts: 843 Registered: 23-Jan-2003 | Just thought I'd share a couple of pictures of my pet on the most fitting day of the year. I got her on Sunday, and have yet to name her. Any suggestions? <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/Wembley21/Hedgehog/Hedgehog1.jpg" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"> <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/Wembley21/Hedgehog/Hedgehog5.jpg" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket"> Anyone else have a hedgehog? |

I wouldn't leave them alone when we had them in the shop Did you have to get a special permit? We had to stop carrying them because we had to get permits and my boss didn't want to. I'll give you the name that i'm sure you've heard 800 times, but i'm surprised no one here has given yet... Name it "Sonic" Then make it jump through rings and roll down hills |

BluePhoenix Fish Addict Posts: 843 Registered: 23-Jan-2003 | Thanks guys. Should have mentioned that I don't like naming a pet something like: snuggles, cuddles, princess, etc. Also, a BIG fan against naming a hedgehog something like Sonic or Spike. Way too unoriginal. Before I found out it was a female (the petstore teenagers are pretty daft ), I was going to name it Charlie. That's unisex right? And Tim, no I don't need a permit to keep her, it's legal here. I think there are something like 10 states in the US where it is illegal to keep hedgehogs without permits; New York being one of them. |

The man was going to start cracking down on ferrets too, but i don't think anything became of it. |

In NY you dont need permits or licenses to keep them, but the petstores need one to carry them. I thought I was cool having a pet ferret. Is there any special care for those guys? -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

longhairedgit Fish Guru Lord of the Beasts Posts: 2502 Kudos: 1778 Votes: 29 Registered: 21-Aug-2005 | Just a small technical point- i kept european hedgehogs when doin the old animal rescue bit, and presumably that is a saudi arabian hedgehog or similar. So how do you stop them from taking a dump anywhere they like? ps , if youre into hedgehogs be aware that proteus bacilli kills them in droves. |
