For the various ways in which people celebrate this (it's a big deal here at Bryn Mawr, not to mention my parents' anniversary and a number of other things besides) - happy May Day!

One of the puzzling parts of following seasonal holidays and living on the other side of the planet

OUr May Day is on your Halloween Very puzzling.

Bet we'll have no trick or treaters tonight though, But just in case I have the candy ready

You're forgetting May day is also International Workers Day.

"the people's flag is deepest red,
it shrouded oft our martyrs dead,
and 'ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
their hearts blood dyed its every fold,
so raise the glorious standard high,
beneath its folds, we'll live and die,
though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
we'll keep the red flag flying here,"

(to the tune of O Tanembaum!)

isn't that just the PC name for Labour Day?

Whatever it is, its a good idea, can't be having with badly kept workers, its just not productive.

yeah, i suppose it is.

one of my mum's friends gave her husband a black eye after she had been in labour 14 hours and gave birth on may 1st. He announced "oh look, labour day."

she lamped him....

the nurse laughed
