Harvey's New Trick | |
superlion Mega Fish Posts: 1246 Kudos: 673 Votes: 339 Registered: 27-Sep-2003 | So I have my DIY CO2 running on the planted tank in my room, and every time the CO2 builds up to a certain point, a big bubble comes to the surface, pops, and makes a fun noise like the "drip" error sound you used to get on the old Macintosh computers. Just now I heard Harvey, my green-cheek conure (who lives in the same room) imitate the sound! So cute! I'll have to encourage him to do that, but it's the first sound I've heard him imitate that I can't make myself. He already says "hello," "hi," clicks, and makes kissing noises ><> |

That is GREAT My friend tells me that electronic sounds are easy for birds to imitate because they are identical every time unlike the human voice. Her budgie used to make the exact sound of her mobile's "incoming text msg" alert. Even made it a little muffled because he always heard the sound coming out of her handbag. Very clever. Had me fooled I went in search of my mobile in another room. When there was no icon on my phone's screen I told my friend to check her own phone. That was when she told me that it was her bird 'amethyst' Very tricksy. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

One imitates a fax machine receiving a fax. The other imitates the beep on my answering machine as it is in progress & always gives the beep immediately before the answering machine does. It also imitates a squeaky door we used to have. About the cutest thing it does, is when it can't get attention any other way it sounds like a cat, cause we have 4 cats & when one of them meows for attention, we reach down & pet it. I assume the bird thinks if it works for the cats, it will work for him. Smart bird.......it usually does. |

I'll have to get some more yeast going so he can get more practice And so my plants will be happy. One of many things I have to do tomorrow... ><> |
