Why is it that whenever someone starts a thread on a seemingly innocent topic (Honda Elements, Hunting/Fishing, etc.), it always seems to be hijacked by people who have nothing better to do than to argue with each other?

I mean, c'mon, people. This started out to be a nice little thread about a particular model of car, and it has now turned into a full-fledged brawl between people with different ecological ideologies.

Jeez.

Yes indeed, it's very fun to have power under your right foot. You should try driving like that sometime Babel, it's really fun! Nevermind the gas prices...

Cars don't need lots of horsepower, people with no self esteem and no life need that.

this is only true if you plan on driving on flat pavement and never pass anyone *EVER*. thank you for categorizing everyone who doesn't drive like you as "no self esteem and no life" ]

WOW finally glad some people care about the environment!

*hugs her Prius*

Yes I waited 7+ years till they made it to the states and my budget
Yes I waited 4 months for mine to be made
Yes I know 110 hp is less horsepower than your car whatever it might be, but you know what, I don't care I get 60mpg, have touch screen controlls, the car shuts off when I'm stopped and is so quiet that I can run people over without them knowing if I so chose to (ask tim )....Cars don't need lots of horsepower, people with no self esteem and no life need that. Cars don't need aceleration and towing power enough to drag mt everest thru the grand canyon the same people that need the horsepower do.
I'd like to know by a show of hands how many people tow their boat to work every day over dirt roads up the mountain both ways.

Since I don't see any hands I'll rest my case and remove this from my active threads. As a side note, minivans are also good for moving into the dorms...so is not taking everything under the sun with you.

Oh, that reminds me: How many times have you taken your element off the pavement, sirbooks? What about you Joe?

It's my family's designated camping vehicle. We drove it out to Arizona when we went rock climbing, so it did get fairly scratched up on that little excursion. My only issue with it is that it doesn't have the off-road capability of say, a pick-up, because it doesn't have nearly the ground clearance. Other than that, I find it to be a quite suitable vehicle for travelling of the beaten path.

[rant=environment]Nevermind that off-roading is a little too popular in some areas, and destroys habitats like in the desert where the vegetation takes years and years to grow back...[/rant]

The only thing an Element and a Hummer have in common are they are both ugly gas consuming boxes!!!

Oh, that reminds me: How many times have you taken your element off the pavement, sirbooks? What about you Joe? Hmmm? People have these vehicles that can handle driving on rough terrain, but the mere thought of driving even a centimeter off the pavement puts them in cardiac arrest

I drove behind an Element today on the way to work, and it had a sticker that said "Mini Hummer." It reminded me of Gartenzwerfe's comment about how some SUV drivers act like they own the road.

Just wanted to share.

My families mini van got trashed by an accord Like Natalie said, it was so destroyed that if anyone had been sitting in any seat other than the drivers one in this case, they would certainly not be here right now. Now we have a big Toyota Sequoia It's perfect for us because we're a family of 5, and we're up in the mountains on vacations a lot. I'd go with that any day.

*checks thread* How did we start talking about this anyway?

*kicks self* Back on topic...but Nick they ARE bad! They look like giant building blocks or something. BUT, I do like the color.

You have to open the front doors before you open the rear doors. Geez you guys, they aren't that bad!

back to the Element doors...
Can you open the rear doors without opening the front? If so, they are true suicide doors. I was under the impresion they are like the door on my 3-door Saturn where you have to open the front door first. If this is the case, then they are auxilary doors and not suicide doors. Either way, it isn't as ugly as a Pontiac Aztek.
