Honey & Hair for Fish Patty and anyone else interested. | |

The longer it got, the curlier it got. Last winter I found an online community dedicated to long hair so I started reading what they had to say. I found a recipe for a deep moisturizing treatment which was supposed to be really good for curly hair. At the same time I stopped using shampoo every day. (I know, you are thinking yuk!!) So now I shampoo 1x a month (with baking soda added to clarify), use the deep conditioner after the clarifying wash plus 2-3x a week and only use regular conditioner to "wash" my hair. this is the deep conditioning recipe 4 parts conditioner 1 part honey (honey is a humectant, so it adds moisture) 1 part aloe gel (the clear stuff) I warm up the mix and put it on my damp hair, cover it with a shower cap and then a towel and let it sit for at least an hour. Rinse well with cool water. If anyone is interested, I can direct you to the original recipe and the list of the best conditioners to use. Some work much better than others for this recipe. Personally I use VO5 because it works good in my hair and its cheap. I easily go through a large bottle of the stuff in a week and a half not counting what I use in the deep conditioning treatment. ~ Mae West |

I've found regular shampoos & conditioners to be just fine for me. But that's interesting to hear that honey adds moisture & is good for your hair. If that concoction is good for your hair, I wonder what it would do for your skin? Have you ever applied it to your face & left it on for an hour while you let your hair set for an hour? |
