So, yah, I was unpacking fish from this week's shipment at work, and came across... wonder of wonders... a MALE DOUBLETAIL BETTA! Wow, holy cow man, I thought. He was small, at just over an inch and a bit, and a pale unattractive washed out greyish tourquise colour. But in four years we have never been shipped a doubletail betta. For $2.99 canadian, he was mine!

I put him in my 10g with my three tetras and my ram.

I come home from work today, and peer into the tank. "Where are you, pretty boy?" I ask. I suddenly spot him. But he has morphed into a beautiful electric blue/red/green boy!

*squeels with delight*

Sorry, I really needed to share that. He is so pretty now!

I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!

I'd love to, but no digital camera, or anything.

He's really just the colour of most of the blue/green/red bettas you see in the stores... but a DOUBLETAIL!

*forgoes squeeling for the sake of the reader's sanity*

Does he have that distinctive sailfin that the DT bettas are known for? I love that... I wish they could breed it into crowntails.

Oh, he definately does have the huge dorsal! It looks like it has twice as many rays as normal!

I didn't know they couldn't breed it into crowntails... That would be gorgeous.
