I had been walking to the LFS in my town requesting some long finned rosy barbs and I have been disappointed by them for 5 weeks running now.

I have been thinking for the first 3 weeks 'ah they must be doing it tough' and on the 4th week I found they lost the sheet of paper they put the orders on. 'OK fine' I thought. I put in an order one more time.

Today I called ahead in case they let me down again. 'Yes we have the long fin barbs you ordered'. Finally I walk up to the shop and find that they are long finned tiger barbs!

Stuff that shop. They have had me going back and fourth to them and they have neglected me for the last time today. Its not like I can go to any other place as I have really bad eyesight and cant drive to the next town as I am legally classed as blind and the roads and traffic authority dont like that quality in a driver. I walked back in a huff. fishless.

Anyway, a friend showed up later on today and I told him about what happened. He took me for a drive out to another aquarium shop. They didnt have the fish I wanted either but they had giant danios there. I have seen these on the TFH Calendar for the month of July and decided to give the barbs a miss in favour of some Giant Danios. I looked them up in a book in the shop and found my parameters would match well and bought 6 of them.

I got to the counter and the owner there must have been in a good mood as he announced 'RANDOM SPECIAL!' and sold them to me for $10! (it was something like $14 for 2).

Man that turned my mood around. The fish are great. They all get on well with the tank mates, look fit and well and really complete the look of my aquarium.

Anyway that is my rant. A completely unforseen happy ending.

Thanks for reading.

That is so cool troy! I love it at those times when things work out in our favor.......especially after such a long disappointment. Man! Fish must be expensive there! Giant danios are so common here that they sell for only like a couple dollars apiece.

But congrats on the great deal & the new fish! I hope they keep bringing you as much enjoyment as they are right now!

Good buy! I love giant danios, they have the funniest group behaviour. I had 4, and one male constantly patrolled a good third of the tank, and shoved the rest of the giant danios (and anything else silly enough to try getting up there) into the other half. He was an absolute scream!

A well known shop this good one eh Troy?

They currently hang out in front of the filter spraybar and dart around like crazy when I am near. They love stream swimming obviously but the funny thing is the pearl gourami that tries to swim with them and cant keep up.
