I would suggest that you see someone about the possible endometriosis too. If you leave it (or it goes undiagnosed for a long time) it only gets worse, trust me .

Definately talk to the doctor about the cramping. It is more likely primary dysmenorrhea than anything else. It just means nothing is technically wrong, but your pain and symptoms are far greater than normal. I had it for years and it only got worse with time. No pain reliever or heat pack would help. EXTREME pain, nausea, and vomiting during menstruation and also pain during ovulation is typical with dysmenorrhea. It usually goes away after childbirth, but the symptoms can be pretty much eliminated by taking birth control pills. It tends to run in families as too. Definately talk to the doctor though. Many people wait way too long because they are embarrased or others tell them "it's just cramps".

Well, only a few more days until my check up. I'm making a list of the things I want to talk to my doctor about...

From the sound of that, if I was there sitting next to you, there'd be no arguments. You'd be straight down the hospital if I had to drag you down at gunpoint

Well, during my most painful times, I throw up if I try to walk or even change position...

The only way I've been able to get through it is by going into my room and laying on the floor face down. That seems to be the only thing that helps with the nausea...

Endometriosis. Hmm. One of those gynaecological things that fortunately I won't ever suffer from. But nasty all the same. Take the above advice - deal with it early and it's mildly inconvenient. Leave it festering and it becomes critical. Deal with it ASAP, and [1] save yourself an ENORMOUS amount of hassle; [2] feel a LOT better once it's under a treatment régime, and [3] you'd know if it was serious enough to need a hysterectomy before now, because take it from me, having seen someone with it that bad, you would not be able to MOVE. You would be stiff as a board, practically passing out with the pain, and heading for an intensive care bed at warp speed. If you're still able to move around and run your life, you shouldn't need a hysterectomy. And you CERTAINLY shouldn't need one if you're under 45. Attack the problem quickly, and you minimise it. Dawdle and let it fester, it attacks you. It's that simple.

Definitely sounds like endo symptoms to me, I had all the same ones (and still do, 8 years and two operations later). You can always PM me if you want more info as well .

No honey you are too young for a hysterectomy, and from what I hear, it wouldn't make things easier. You end up missing 6-8 weeks of work/school and then the risks of bone density loss, hormonal imbalances worse than ever, etc go up so much. Do something now, write down what you want to talk to the doctor about, especially the part about having such horrible cramps; because when the time comes you might forget, or worse yet, you might become too embarased to tell the doctor when thetime comes...OK? Now go on, write it down, and put it in your purse that you'll be taking with you to the doctor...Best wishes, Heidi

Yeah, it has been getting worse recently. I got my first cramps that litterally make me collapse in pain like a year and a half ago (I have gotten normally bad cramps all the time though, sometimes even during the wrong time of the month), and I didn't used to get the nausea until like six months ago. Also, now when I get cramps, my whole lower abdominal cavity hurts and a lot of the time medicine doesn't even work.

The lights are gone today, but I don't think that was the first time I've seen things like that. I'm going to go and get a physical Monday, so I will tell my doctor about my problems. I really want to get a hysterectomy, but my mom won't let me. Thanks for the concern, Just Beginning and BBNP!

Cory, Get your mom to take you to your doctor first thing. Then discuss with your doctor about both problems. Little light things seem kind of weird, and your regular doctor should be able to tell you if it is normal, or you should see a doctor...I get the same thing when my blood pressure is running high And as for the endometriosis (sp?) if your problem is that then you need to get it taken care of, if it isn't then you might have cysts on your ovaries, or something else. Don't just let the doctor tell you or anyone else, that really painful periods are normal...I went for over 10 years being told that, and I suspect that has a lot to do with why I'm already going through Menopause...Take care of yourself kiddo, you're still young and we love you...Heidi

Wow...

I keep seeing all these white lights above me out of the corner of my eyes, like someone is shining a bright flashlight or something on the ceiling. But then when I try to look up at them they disappear.

Just thought I'd share. It's really weird...

'Little wiggly lines' ...

Hmm, are you referring to those artefacts that everyone has in their eyeballs, and which are most noticeable if you wake up on a sunny Spring morning and spend time lazing about for 30 minutes staring at the ceiling? The ones that look like little translucent micro-organisms suspended in water under a microscope lens, but which move when you try to aim your pupil at them?

They are perfectly natural.

Wiggly lines that have a weird glow around them, or are solid black obscuring parts of the vision field, that's different. Doctor time again ...

Hey pj I get that happening all the time too :88)
....of course I've had what cory addict described happen as well ....

My optomitrist always did a glacoma test...(*shudder*) when I asked him about the light thing that pj mentioned he said it was your eye trying to "make" light which doesn't make sense to me since really the only times I'm seeing the fireflys is if I"m out catching them or if I"m staring @a sunny blue sky :%).

If you're 40+, get a glaucoma check FAST.

I have a brother in Australia (Brisbane) who was caught in the nick of time. Consequently, as it is partly hereditary, I need glaucoma checks every 2 years. And will need them for life.

The good news about being in the UK is that I get them free

Even if you're under 40, what you described sounds suspicious. Get a glaucoma check ASAP, just to be sure. Because if you catch it early, it's treatable. My brother needed (fortunately) nothing more stressful than eye drops for his.

Where medical things are concerned, it's best to act fast. Because if you don't have something serious, it's a huge relief, and if you do, catching it early ensures that it stays only moderately serious instead of becoming critical. Ask any woman who has been caught on the hop with cervical cancer (as one of my local acquaintances was a few years ago) and she'll tell you the same - MUCH better sooner than later!
