Wondered what on earth it could be. Openeed the door, whereupon the postman thrust a package into my hands. Hmm, what's this, thought I ... jiffy bag ... postmarked "Peterborough" ... don't know anyone from there ... First thought after that was "hope this isn't going to explode ..." so, gingerly examine package ... "hmm, it isn't ticking ..." ...gingerly open package ... Turns out Practical Fishkeeping magazine sent me a free tub of fish food. Big plastic tub of King British Tropical Flakes. Only thing is, whoever sealed it at the factory obviously never meant it to be opened. Looks like I'll have to borrow a pneumatic drill to break into it |

I don't need fish food - after all, my fish are 100 miles away from me and have been for the last 12 months. I could really do with some free dechlorinator! The fish are moving home in a couple of months and I'll need to have enough to dechlor 50g of water! ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions |

Or, store a lesser volume, say 25 gallons, then you only need dechlorinator for the remainder. Plus, you should be able to reduce that amount still further if you can transport a quantity of the fishes' original water with them. If you're driving your own car, that should make the logistics a LOT easier in this respect, because you can now set about planning what containers to obtain, how to make them spill proof, etc., and you've 2 months to do it in. Uncle Cali to the rescue again. |

Me boyfriend will already have to have a bucket of fish on his lap for the journey. And I don't have somewhere to store water for 2 months - I live in a flat! ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. Or a Transit van. If this flat is above ground floor level, I hope the floor will support you aquarium. Especially if your flat is in one of those 1960s vintage tower blocks that were built by cowboys ... at least when someone decided to put up some 3-storey blocks of flats at the bottom of my road, they had the good sense to build them from reinforced concrete, so that the floors could take decent amounts of loading - the floors in those are 18 inches thick and reinforced with a nicely robust girder fr |

I'd really like a Transit - it'd fit my kiting gear in it without having to take my kitebuggy apart every time I go flying!! ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium.
