Nothing major.. today at work i had a poster in my left hand in front of me, and i was slicing it with a pair of scissors out of boredom. Everything was fine and dandy until my co-worker decides to cut the sheet of paper with a razor blade. He caught the paper and my arm at the same time. I kinda winced back a little bit, and he's like "i didn't get you.." I just kinda showed him the gash on my arm and he's like "OH CRAP!!" He held it closed for me while another person got some paper towels (yea, i know, paper towels aren't good, but it's all i had at the moment). It didn't hurt, but i just kinda stood there waiting for it to hurt, but the pain never came. The lady drove me to the hospital and i ended up getting 6 stitches. I got a cool little wrist band and everything It measured 4cm long by about a cm wide. It was cool, once we got all the blood outta the way, i could see little fat deposits and stuff I get 'em out in 12 days It's kinda starting to be sore now, but it's all good

Just though i'd share my first trip to the hospital

Actually it was really cool to check out the inside of my arm I would have looked at it longer, but i kinda needed to keep my blood *shrug* who needs blood? I watched intuitively as he stitched it up. This guy does good work, you can barely notice it... well, save for the blue fishing line in my arm

Sun -- I got in the facility waiting room give or take 4:30-4:45, waited less than 10 minutes to be seen by a nurse, another 10-15 from the time i first saw the nurse to when i saw the doctor, 7-8 minutes to sew it up after the doctor took an important phone call, then about 10 minutes for the nurse to put a pressure wrap on it and make me sign some stuff and tell me what to do with it. I was back to work just before 5:30.

Glad to hear you are ok, Fallout -- I read the title and thought "OMG!" By the way, since I work at a hospital -- how long was your wait in the ED?

reminds me of the time i was in art class and my friend accidently drove the blade into my arm cuz he wans't thinking and came close to my back to whisper to ask for something and i turned to pass it to him and bam...right in the elbow area....it was around 2 inches deep...i didn't even feel it the blade was so sharp

a friend behind me said "oh kayla, your bleeding" and then i laughed and said am i? why? lol n then i felt a trickle down my arm and then my teacher came over and looked at me n he's like, uh...damnnit kayla your my first student ever to get injured..i ended up getting stitches and temporary weirdnessin my arm, supposedly it hit some like nerve n i had damage for awhile, so i feel what you're talking about tim, lol

i only ended up getting 3 stitches...but it was my first time for anything too, lol. you get yours out]? i had this "supposedly" disolvable stitch that was a funky blue!....it never dissolved...my skin grew around the stitching..so my mom took them out since i can't reach where it was...still have the scar today, still have the friend that apologizes to me everytime i see him, he nearly went into tears, my teacher from then on said he tried to kill me and he constantly got teased and ran away from when he had anything sharp...lol...poor boy.

what i found a bit weird feeling was the stitching...like when he was doing it..kinda felt funny

You stupid dolt

You only play with sharp objects if you have intentions of hurting somebody, that way you can't hurt yourself.

Chopped my thumb half off and went to the doctor here in town. He said he could sew it up for $80. Or I could just let it heal on its own. After thinking of the sewing bit and not haveing $80, I left it alone. The bleeding stopped after a week. Then about a month ago I did the samething but on the other half of the same thumb. Now theres no feeling in my thumb at all. Just tape it together it sems to hold if you dont mind bleeding for a week.
Hope you feel better soon Tim.
You dont want to really hear the story of my daugthers 78 stiches in her leg now do ya?

superlion :

I know that pain (or lackthereof) through experience - I was riding my bike, and for some reason the brakes failed - and I went head first into the side of a metal (and rusty) dumpster - and dislocated my wrist, and slashed my cheek open - oh what fun it was!!!

I probably should have gone to the ER when i got my head smashed in with a tennis racket. I left a trail of blood from the tennis courts all the way to the nurses's office, with little pools on the ground whenever i stopped.. that was nasty! I got 4 stitches then, still got the bump :-\ Stupid doctor ripped it all the way apart again when he took the stitches out, i might as well not have had them...

Thanks for the love and the feeties, they'll all get love back

Awwwwwwww my Timmay!!
Much love a lots of feeties.
Let's see. I have been to the ER numourus times. The furthest back I rememeber is my dad telling me not to go outside without shoes, getting rocks, twigs, and various other things stuck in the skin on the bottom of my foot, having it get infected and having to go get it surgically removed.
Then I was taunting my gramma's dog and almost lost an eye. Three stiches and a scar.
Ummm, next is falling on a scooter, somehow hitting my upper lip on the handle bar without the rubber grip and having it go through my lip. Two stiches.
My most recent one was when I was staying in Florida on vacation. My aunt has an outdoor inground pool, and there is a door that leads into the bathroom from the deck and the door itself was metal. I chopped the tip of my middle finger off, severed the nerve and I have no feeling there anymore. They stitched my fingertip back on and except for the no feeling, it's good as new!

Geez, Tim, you really know how to make a girl's knees go weak...

When the stitches are out and it's fairly well healed, keep massaging the area around the scar, it will help to break up scar tissue and it won't end up so bad. Vitamin E oil is good for reducing scarring too, but make sure it's healed! After my two operations, I had scars in my belly-button which looked rather strange, but I did both of these things and now they are much smaller.

Unless you want to keep the scar of course - 'chicks dig scars' and all that...

I've been to the ER a couple times. One I don't remember was when I broke my collarbone. MY sister was spinning me on one of those office charis, and it fell over. It was a while ago, so I don't really remember it very well. The latest time I was in the ER, it was after I got a shot for like Hepatitis B or something. I had an allergic reaction to it and fainted a few minutes later.

Whetu, you're evil!

Cute blue stitches tim! Can't wait to see them in person! can I take them out for you?

I went to the ER once when I got stung by a bee and had an anaphylactic reaction. Really good fun. Got oxygen to breathe and adrenaline injected in my tummy, then antihistamine injected in my thigh. Hurt more than the bee sting! Couldn't walk on it for a few days and had a year and a half of treatment (weekly injections) following it. One of the most frustrating, annoying, irritating things I've ever done in my life because of the consequences. All from an itty-bitty bee!

Get well soo Tim, but not too soon... a sore arm will make it easier for babelfish and I to overpower you and shave off that beard! mwah ha ha

Wow you guys are lucky you don't live here. I get migraines occasionally thet need to be treated with Demerol by IV since nothing else works. I have to be hooked up to an EKG and usually have to stay for about 8 hours just so they can feel confident I'm not having a stroke. All of the hospitals are aware of this and keep my records on file just in case.

Here's the problem: Last time I had to go to the ER for my migraine treatment the wait was 4 hours! I don't know how many of you get migraines, but when it's bad enough that the only thing that works is demerol, it's not a good idea to be in the waiting room under fluorescent lights with little kids running all over the place. I finally fainted right in the waiting room and they got a doctor. I guess they don't really care until you're officially unconscious.

Yeah our health care is free, but with recent health care government cuts here in Ontario, wait times in hospitals have gone up to anywhere between 4-8 hours in an urban centre. I HATE HOSPITALS! ]:|

Ok I'm finished ranting
