Recently someone showed me a highly amusing answer to a fairly normal set of questions on a different forum (definitely not one that's going to be stealing any of our people, I'd say! ) The question? How do I know if my female platies are pregnant, what do I feed the fry - pretty normal, basic question, right?
The answer - from a moderator - was that you should never breed any fish unless you have the proper setup for them. His guesstimate of the cost of this setup, to raise, remember, platy fry? About $300-500.
Figure posting this here will help me stifle the urge to fall off of my chair laughing.

That is pretty ridiculous... I wouldn't spend that much breeding any fish. Unless it was like a fish room dedicated to breeding rare corys or something.
