hehe...so we have this customer at work the other day, who comes in to buy a small, rectangular, kitty litter box. Not very unusual, considering it is a pet store and all. Well, then she told us what she was going to do with it!

THE PLAN:

Bake a regular vanilla cake in the kitty pan. Frost, sprinkle with piles of coconut shavings (half white, half dipped in yellow food coloring) and top with random sized tootsie rolls!!!

A halloween prank for her children I believe. She wants them to actually think the cats litter box has been moved to the dinner table. Kind of disgusting, yet I thought it to be very, very funny. Almost as funny as the customer who buys crickits, then releases them...that's a whole different story.

So who's gunna try it?

i've had people come in and buy crickets as pets.

Well actually, this lady keeps 2 as pets, and just releases the others b/c she feels bad for them. Little does she know that they won't survive long anyway, b/c they aren't from this area.

we used to do it for baby showers with a potty, lemon jello and Oh Henry bars.

I've seen the recipe for the cat box cake before. I am a little surprised that the baking process doesn't melt the cat box... maybe I'm missing something since I haven't read the instructions...

You meet all sorts of crazy people at pet stores. From yuppies buying feeder mice to a mom who make you double-bag bags of crickets to she doesn't have to see them. Her son had to go fight in a war... and she bought crickets for his lizard. Pretty sweet but funny how squamish she was about it. Not like she had to catch them by shaking them into a funnel... which if you're not familiar with it can get you and arm covered with crickets... that bite and everything... anyway... I do miss working at a pet store. It's a lot of fun.
