well, i always say the best part of winter vs. summer is that you can always put more clothes *on* when it's cold, but you can't keep taking stuff off to cool down in the summer once you reach nakedness the only place to go is into the bath or pool/lake/river/etc

or you could jump around in the sprinkler like you're 8 again

You could, but the water restrictions here mean no sprinklers

Its just nasty!

Run around in the heat with a sweatsuit on and when you pass out from heat exhaustion and someone calls the ambulance, you'll be taken to a nice air conditioned hospital and be given drinks

Wasn't so hot here. Only like 32ºC or something. Sucks to be you.

I would say the beach sounds good, but you city folk have crap beaches, and you have to scabble over sand like a pack of sea gulls. Unlike me...

Dunk your head in a bucket....
Anyway best way I've found is 1.) keep your head wet 2.) sleep days be up @nights (I know you're good @that already ) 3.) no cooking/baking during the day.....and keep shutters, blinds, ect closed in the house. Luckily for you the weather channels web page shows that you cool off alot overnight and that the humidity is fairly low....try 95F/35F @midnight, no breeze, and 90%+ humidity. *wonders once again why she's living in maryland* ]

A new record.

38* in Sydney, 41* on other parts of sydney.

I HAVE NO A/C!

Anyone have great ideas for cooling myself down?

For those not familiar...

38c is 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Which keeps the Roos hopping faster on hot ground.

And yes....foods that don't need to be cooked is pretty much the name of the game during summer....or use the microwave .

I spent the day in air conditioned officey comfort

... good keeping cool tricks for ya - stick some ice cubes in a plastic bag, wrap it in a scarf & tie it around your neck... & stick your feet in cold water ... sounds odd but it really does work! ... I'm not just trying to make you look silly...

I heard about you guys on the news... you poor things!

Babel, if you think heat with humidity is bad, you should try heat with water restrictions and bush fires! I know which one I'd choose!

It's hard to believe that Sydney's just over there

and only a few degrees of latitude different from me (you're 34 south, I'm 37) and I'm still taking hot hotties to bed at night while you're freezing yours! :%)

Man thats hot, how hot is your CPU temperature? Right now the temp is 16C over here. When it gets hot over here NOLA I get a big mug fill it with water duh haha and alot of ice, keep doing this over and over and you will cool or freeze, I did it but I pee alot,I did that when I was hot over here, i mean outside, our house has central so I dont have to worry. There was this time when our old central broke in the middle of summer, and well it was hot, very hot, but we all slept in one room it had one window unit, it was for 3 days until we bought a new one.

Thats all good but what about the fish as well???

They not going to love the weather that is coming. And I dread the days that it is so hot that my tank hits about 40 plus.

Poor little fishies

the fish are ok, but the axolotls are suffering.

We are geiting a chest freezer soon, and they will have cubes of tank water frozen to try to keep the tank temp below 22*c
