I guess it was just cause it was short term. It KILLS when I move it or barely tap it against something (bad pain pills?). I went to get something to eat at a diner and the waitress kicked my leg...I screamed...really loud and wanted to punch her, but I held back. Needless to say everyone was staring. I have a huge pillow and a sleeping bag under it and it's just past the back of the couch. Plus I'm icing it, which despite what the doc said I can actually feel and it helps. He said I could if I wanted to, but it probably wouldn't help. I can definitely still feel the swelling though. The only thing I'm looking forward to is the protection that the hard cast offers. With this thing I can feel it move a lot, which I'm sure is not good. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

As a suggestion, get that leg as high as you can - I'm on the sofa with my leg up higher than the back of the sofa. But when you do get the cast on, keep it elevated still because it will swell up again when they stick the cast on - and it can hurt when they do it as they try and get it as tight as they can. So if you keep it elevated for 3-4 days after you get the cast, the swelling when you put your foot down by the end of the 4 days won't be so severe it turns your toes blue ![]() On the topic of baths - at the moment I'm only taking one every couple days, its logistically too difficult, and especially with a fresh break i'd highly suggest going sans bath for a few days to allow the swelling to come down. Taking showers with a splint is difficult. When you get the cast it will help alot more. And on loft beds - I don't have one, but since our bedroom is UPSTAIRS I've been living on the sofa as going up the stairs on yer butt is a pain ![]() What pain meds are you on? For the first two weeks I was on lortab or vicodin. I don't need them anymore (well, not currently). For the first two weeks or so it can be painful. Just be thankful you're not having surgery. Have they suggested any orthapedic specialists to go to? I was recommended one that does sports medicine. He's a great guy too - the practice are the team docs for the dallas mavericks and a bunch of other teams, so they know what the heck they're doing. Then again, our insurance covers it, I know some insurance companies probably won't cover it. I have learnt alot in the two and a bit weeks since i did this. Oh yeah, never take showers for granted...pain in the butt...or leg. mattyboombatty attached this image: ![]() Janna, hopefully the two books and schoolwork will keep me busy during sucky daytime tv, then at night I can watch some decent shows while falling asleep....that's the plan at least. So far I can only get sleep in 2 hour intervals. It seems I got some bum drugs that don't really work well. Also never take your lofted bed for granted....can't even sleep in my own bed, I'm stuck to the couch. ![]() Meriadoc - Thanks for the sympathy, hope everything goes well for you too ![]() Last edited by mattyboombatty at 21-Feb-2005 11:18[/font] Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

I'm not as accident- ![]() What are you going to do all that time in bed? I'd go crazy. I'm really lazy and all, but when I get cooped up I freak out. Sometimes, I just have to run. I just tripped and fell ![]() but yes, sucks to have a broken leg. You're lucky though, I had to have surgery on mine, so i'll have a little more longer recovery time. I broke mine (left) in three places though. Sucks, and I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! |
