Does anyone know how old you must be to get a learner's permit in Indiana? I should know this since I live here, but I've heard conflicting answers. I've heard people say that you must be 16 1 month and 1 day, but I read online that it's just 16. It's not a huge deal, but I'll be turning 16 in a little over a month, and if I could get my permit then that would be awesome. Any info would be appreciated.

15 if you're taking driver's ed, 16 and a day if you haven't, according to my friend who has lived in Indiana all his life.

Thanks for the help. I didn't bother taking driver's ed, it costs too much.

It may cost a bit up front, but it'll save you a LOT on your insurance.

It was $200 for me to take drivers ed, but it saves me just under $100 every 6 months because I took it. It'll probably depend on your insurance company and on state laws/regulations, but you'll probably save a decent bit by taking drivers ed...

Either way, have fun, but don't run anyone over or hit any cars/trees/poles/signs
