We're trying to find a 1995-99 Kia Rio, and are wondering if there's anything we should know about when buying at used car lots? Don't you think it's sad when a government worker can't even afford a $11,000 sedan? Yeah, you heard me right: an official memeber of the City of Lake Elsinore Public Works Department. I honestly don't know how people think capitolism works. It is easy for the rich to get richer, and even easier for the poor to get poorer. Here we have people doing nothing in offices getting paid as much as $25 an hour, while others do the work that communities' need just to sustain existance, and they're only paid $13 hourly. Let's see- benefits of capitolism: - Open market, free trade Negatives of capitolism: - Hard working men working ever-so long and hard on ever-so important things are paid barely enough to afford food+shelter. - Lazy, arrogant businessmen sit around in luxurious offices, rarely doing anything that really makes a difference to the much-too-common menial, working-class regular Joe, sitting there in his 1 bedroom, 1/2 bathroom house, with old appliances, a cheap used sofa, and bathroom with ruined tile, and no car, who can just barely afford to get enough to eat. - Heck, if it wasn't for this worker's in-laws, he'd have starved to death, in an alley, out in the cold of the night. Sorry, I couldn't help it. I'm so depressed lately by the fact that no-one in my family will ever have a real life. I just had to rant, in fear of making an outburst in public. But seriously, though. Is there anything one should look at or ask about when buying a used car? Last edited by thegoldendojo at 30-Dec-2004 11:21 |

Throwaway cars man.. might as well get a matchbox car. Tip 1: Have a trustworthy mechanic put it on a lift and check every aspect of the car, including for accident damage or any particular bad spot on the kind of car you get. Tip 2: Bust on to carfax and check her out Tip 3: Drive it lots, see if you like it or notice anything screwy Tip 4: Get a warranty, don't buy "as is" Tip 5: Make sure it's not eating fluids at an abnormal rate Tip 6: Make sure it idles smoothly and at a reasonable RPM (around 800RPM, give or take, slightly less in gear if it's an automatic) Tip 7: Make sure it's not an imported garbage brand like kia or hyundai |

My neighbors have a Kia, and it is a piece of crap. If your looking for Domestic - get a chevy or dodge, stay away from ford. If your looking for import, Hondas, and toyotas are good also. Also, make a deal with used car dealers, they will ALWAYS lower the price. If they only will take like $100 off, go somewhere else - their trying to rip you off. |

Japanese really know how to make their cars. Once you pick some cars you like, a VERY good place to research them is this site: http://www.carreview.com/reviewscrx.aspx Gives overall user and editorial ratings, etc. You can compair any make/model to any other make/model. |

Most jap imports are very well made as well. When you buy your car make sure it's the proper model. My friends brother bought a standard nissan thinkng it was a Q edition. |
