Hello FPers
Is anyone making gifts? or finishing diy projects for loved ones? Tank stands? Mittens? Making a new blankie for watching tv?

I am doing some lap rugs - not finished *cough* ... in particular one with catterpillars on it.
And some fabric edged net throws for use at bbqs to keep insects off the food.

So how are the other diy/crafties going?

*sigh* badly.

I am trying some felt crafts. A friend of mine ordered a handmade pincushion from OS earlier this year and was very disappointed with the item, so I'm making nicer ones. Only, I'm not great at hand stitching and I don't have the appropriate callouses, so it is hard going.

I'll grab the piccies.

I'm doing some knitting - I'm making knitted gift tags instead of paper ones, 2 more to go.

Ohhh, any pics? that sounds really interesting!

I finished another one tonight, tomorrow I'm on to sewing various bags. Cross your fingers New Betsy the sewing machine survives the experience, the cranky cow doesn't much care for my company.

Just celebrated my first one, didn't make gifts this year (so why is she posting she hears everyone ask!)

Umm, I wrapped does that count? I'm used to having much more in the way of wrapping paraphernalia, but lets face it, most boys don't have oodles of stuff laying around.

This year I discovered that wrapping paper cut into narrow strips can be curled. That next year the youngest brother is getting a home made gift basket. And that next year I might skip out on the wrapping paper altogether and use something that can be recycled (wrapping paper cant ) with fabric bows.

Tiny gave me an idea as well. I can't knit, never learned. But I do have a huge box of embroidery floss, I might cross stitch nametags.

Wish, very practical gifts...Calla those are so cute! I have a pincushion I converted, can't quite get the stuffing mix right, was too hard to push the pins into (especially when you're pushing on the pointy bit.

Noice wrappin' Babel. On the recycled thing, I have a friend that doesn't do wrap anymore on the grounds she is saving the world. Recently she and her b/f left for India and I wrapped a gift for them in the "Travel" page from the Sunday paper. It had a beautiful image on the page and was very apt and commented upon and appreciated by both recipients before they opened the gift.

Calla those are so cute. Look great. Hope the demon sewing machine cooperated.

The comics page makes great wrapping paper. Plus you can read it and get a laugh!
