My family shares a cabin up state NY in the town of Long Lake. It's an hour north of Lake George, and we are nestled in a cove on Lake Eaton. Recently we went up with friends and saw a ton of wildlife right in our own backyard: sunfish, small mouth bass, herons, loons, frogs, toads, chipmunks, mallards, crayfish, minnows, the list goes on and on! Here's a link to some of the wildlife I witnessed if anyone's interested. There's also a couple of other random shots of our trip in there.
I was less than 5 feet away when I took that heron shot, boy was it scary. He was not camera shy at all, walked right up to me. And as an added note- I didn't do any fishing, I haven't had the heart since I got started with fish keeping. But my friends and family who did let everybody go, nobody became dinner
Enjoy!!!

no way! what are the chances of that?? We had an okay week, we came July 25 to August 1. We got a couple rainy days, and a couple decent ones. Not the best week we've ever had but from what I've heard, there really hasn't been a GREAT week up there yet. Our cabin is in Beecher Park, about 2 miles away away from Hoss', Custards, Nothern Bourne, Trustworthy, everything around there. My family has been visiting up there for over 50 years. So know any LFS' in Long Lake for me to visit next time? Too bad nobody could survive the 6 hour drive home.

Yah, its been raining pretty much all summer. We had a couple of nice days (hot) earlier this week and then it got really cold yesterday and it was probibly in the 40's last night. (Typical August weather) I have friends that have camps in Beecher and go in often, Lake Eaton is a very pretty lake. No LFS in Long Lake, but one in Tupper Lake...very small and not much for selection, almost not worth going.
