New Sleep Med | |
sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | I just got tossed more meds. Remelteon to try for 16days and 6mg ambien cr to take in the meantime so I actually get sleep again. Can anyone figure out exactly what ramelteon is? The website for rozerem(brand name) appears to be geared towards a 10year old and in order to gain any info you have to watch their videos explaining all the basics first. All I came up with is it mimics melatonin. What's so great about this versus just taking a melatonin supplement like I've been doing? I already made an appointment for 2 weeks from now knowing that's about how long I can withstand ambien before I'll be back for something else. Maybe if I don't take any lunesta for a few weeks it will work again for awhile. |

(looks like it mimics (which you already knew) and enhances melatonin) <scarry link removed> hope you can get some sleep soon! ~ Mae West |

It's almost like their writing information about an entirely different drug or just used a basic form for other sleep meds and changed the name. This one was much better: http://pn.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/40/16/14 |

Wonderful combination. And on rare occasions, norco (10mg hydrocodone / 325mg acetaminophen) paxil though for my depression sucks. Aside from the sleep issues (I have difficulty sleeping since I started taking them), and I've also noticed an increase in my lower back pain (genetic issues with degenerative disk disease that the drug seems to have increased the pain) |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | Last night I took 50mg seroquel, 1.5mg lunesta, 6mg ambien cr, 8mg rozerem, and 150mcg melatonin. Since I only got 4 hours of sleep tonight I'll probably take the same and then if no headaches up the ambien and drop the seroquel in half. Seroquel doesn't make me feel good during the day even if I get sleep. Actually despite being tired and taking 2 hours to force myself out of bed I feel more motivated to do something today than in the past 6months. Now somehow make the sunlight stop hurting my eyes and I'll act on that. Hydrocodone is great for sleep but the side effects over longterm use and the highly addictive part of it don't make it a very good choice for very long. Paxil is the last medication I will ever touch again and it's horrible for sleep. If it's a big issue I'd ask for another ssri. Zoloft doesn't seem to impact sleep as badly but still not helpful for me. There's 6 other drugs in the same class as paxil and they all have much the same benefit with different side effects depending on the individual so you don't have to be content with the first one the doctor gives you. Paxil just seems to be the new favorite replacing Prozac. |

Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | I was tired of the way Ambien was making me feel, so I just started on Lunesta. It's been interesting. Not sure if I like it yet or not. Still taking the 1000 mg Seroquel at night. We'll see what happens. Good luck with your new cocktail, sham. |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | This is not an improvement. Now I go to sleep at around midnight, wake up at 4am, and I'm completely awake. Not at all sleepy and half the time not at all tired. For several days I wasted a few hours taking a shower, watching a movie, reading a book, and then going back to sleep at 7-8am until 10-11am. Today I don't even feel like doing that. Probably because I injured my knee chasing after a puppy that ducked a barb wire fence after some deer and haven't been very active the past 2 days. If it wasn't for the fact my stable is at my mom's house I'd flip the flood lights on outside and start working horses in the yard. The problem is that's only 4hours of sleep so about 2pm I absolutely crash and am worthless for the rest of the day. Martial arts class is at 7pm and I get home from it at 9-10pm. I'm gonna be so tired and have such a bad headache if I don't figure out how to sleep for a few hours during the day. Azami is also quite unhappy to be woken up at 4am. I turned the bedroom light back off for her but she followed me into the livingroom and is curled up making sighing noises. |
