Yeah, um, so here's how it works---I'll read off a question, whoever answers it first gets the point. A total of twenty questions will be asked. The lucky winner can e-mail me for a prize . In case of a tie, a tiebreaker round will ensue.

Question one:

Polar covalent bonds have a higher value than ionic bonds do in this category. Ions that cannot combine to form stable nuclei have a value of zero, and fluorine has the highest value, at 4.0. FTP, what is this value, also referred to as electron affinity, that refers to an element's ability to form chemical bonds?

10. Often thought to be Mark Twain's portrayal of the classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, in several of his novel Huckleberry Finn, Twain depicts a family feud raging on between two families, involving much violence. FTP, who is the youngest son of the Grangerford family, who befriends Huck for a short period of time but is eventually shot dead by the family opposing his own?

2Cu(s) + 2HNO3(aq) --> Cu2(s) + H2(g) + 2NO3(aq)

2Cu(s) + H2(g) + 2NO3(aq) --> H2(g) + 2CuNO3(s)

Probably wrong, but I'm too lazy to break out the ol' Periodic Table to find out the oxidation number(s) of copper.

9. In many chemical reactions, electrons are transferred between atoms/ions. Fpr example, when HNO3 reacts with solid copper, copper atoms lose electrons while the acid gains electrons. For TWO points (one per answer), name this species of reaction, and complete the net ionic equation of the above two compounds (copper metal and nitric acid).
