Anybody ever reflash a corrupted bios? I upgraded the bios on one of my pcs last weekend and it killed it. doesn't post or anything now. So now I either have to buy a new board or get the bios chip reflashed.

pretty much once the chip is corrupted there is not much you can do if you don't have a chip reprogrammer. if you can find another motherboard of the exact same type -- and i mean *exact* -- you can take the chip off that one and try reflashing again

There is a company I found that will do it for 10 each. But I found a board online I may get. And also found a kit that would reprogram the corrupted chips, but at $299, for me to do 1 chip, is kinda over kill.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Probably won't help, but it's worth a try if you haven't already.

Personally I'd just buy a new board and start again, but that's just me. I like the easy solutions

Silly question, but the chip isn't removable is it? Some boards have BIOS chips that can be removed and replaced like CPU's. If you haven't looked, it'll be a standard black rectangular BIOS chip surrounded by a white plastic border that looks like a PCI slot.

It is one of the PLCC removable chips. I have found a few sites online, but I'm going to go with the new board. I may still order a new chip if they have the one for my board and slowly buy the parts to build another system on it.

Sites I've will flash the chip for $10, or sell new ones for $25. But I found the same board online for only $40 with manufacture warranty.

Putting a lot of thought into buying a kit I seen to reflash PLCC and DIP chips myself and offering that service at a low cost, as no shops near me offer this service.
