OK What is the best way to get this??

The boss has said that I am doign a great job, our clients are saying the same thing and she has told me that she wishes that I was on the big hourly rate the other person is on and they be on what I am on.

So what can I do to get this happening???

Like we have just put on a new person and the income is going to increase but at the moment money is tight.

Like I understand this in a way but then If I am worth more then how long should I wait to get this payrise??

I have been with the business for nearlly 2 years.

If you think you deserve it, and you think they think you deserve it, you should make an appointement with the powers that be, put on your nicest suit, comb your hair, and ask for it flat out.

you can do that - just don't put on an attitude - my ex did that, and it didn't get him too far. in fact, they laughed.

it all depends on what you ask for. My ex not only asked for a raise, but he wanted a raise of about $20,000 a year because he wasn't earning the same amount as industry.

never mind he hadn't had the three years industry experience that those people had and were earning that much - but he wanted that raise.

I've found if an organization does not have the appropriate mechanisms in place to evaluate staff and adjust compensation accordingly, and generally does not have the notion that staff is valuable and should be rewarded and retained when appropriate, then it's time to jump ship.

The only way to really garner that raise cleanly, without burning bridges or looking greedy to your superiors AND your peers is to seek higher pay at another organization... change jobs. Then again, I'm in IT, so the expectation is in place that you will be changing jobs every few years.

I'm currently looking to change jobs, and have entertained positions that offered a "raise" of 21.5% to 68% over what I'm making now. Just looking for the right one. Hopefully I'll hear back from one soon, it's actually one of the lower increases, around 30%, but is an organization I really believe in and could settle into.

Good luck either way.

It is not inappropriate to either ask in person or write a letter asking for a reasonable increase in salary directly related to job performance. Be prepared to support your worth to the company. If they value you as an employee they will consider an out of cycle raise. Worst they can do is say no. Either way you don't lose if you do it with a smile and a friendly hey thought I would ask because I do believe it is merited And if they decline be ready to immediately say I can certainly understand your position, thank you for the consideration.
