A really quick question:

I need to order some aquarium filters and such from an online company. The two I like the most are PetCo and PetSmart. What is everyones opionions on these stores? Which one is better? If someone has been ripped off by one of these companies I would really like to know! Thanks!!

Are there any drawbacks to buying Petsmart's "Topfin" brand tanks?

Ok I want to be politically correct here....I've ordered a few times from the first store you mentioned Three times I received damaged merchandise. Print a receipt from their webpage, go to the local store and there are no problems doing an exchange. But it was still a hassle.

Have you tried BigAl's Online? They often have very good prices.

It's PETsMART. But I want to say Petco is better because I work there. But with equipment like that there isn't going to be much difference (especially if it's the same brand). So buy what you want from whichever. Sometimes cheaper brands of tank kits come with equipment that will die sooner so you get what you pay for just keep that in mind and figure out what's best.

I prefer PETCO. At least where I live the workers there seem to be more knowledgeable. Not to put down PetsMart. I also have shopped there too.

I like petsmart better. Only because the one by my house compared to the petco is alot cleaner and has twice as much stuff as petco.

I go to Petco more often, but only because it's closer to home. Petsmart is generally cheaper and has a better selection. At least, that's what I've noticed between the two stores in my immediate area. Of course, the Petsmart is also bigger than Petco, so the selection stands to reason. *shrugs*

I think most Petsmarts are about the same size (pretty big) but Petcos range from quite small (mostly dry goods stores) to at least as big as Petsmart. I know at my job we have to redirect people for some things (larger cat trees... dog adoption days... etc) to larger stores in the area.
