Hiya guys,

Thought I'd share some of my pictures with you. Comments are invited. Many Sydney-siders may find the pictures very familiar.

I visited Manly first. It is a quiet suburb north of Sydney. Frequented by surfers, but has a great view of the ocean and a nature reserve.

Hiya Babelfish,

That bear is from a series known as Twisted Whiskers, all of them bearing the same look. My partner likes it because it reminds us of how we looked when the weather was freezing cold in some parts of Sydney then. You know the type of cold which blows in your face and causes you to look like you are smiling when it is really because your cheeks are so frozen you can't move them?

But she now kind of gets spooked by it when she wakes up in the night and sees a pair of large yellow eyes staring at her, like Alice in Wonderland's Cheshire Cat.

Yes, that bear is the scariest thing I've seen in a long time.

Great pictures!

LOL, the "interesting animals" are toadfish! Fishermen here roll them up under their feet and throw them around like balls. Basically puffers.

Featherdale is just down the road from me! Did you get to hold the frogmouth and the koalas?

And um, did she accept?

HIya Wish-ga,

Well, I had one with me and milady actually, but when I posted it over another forum and there was this wiseguy who started photoshopping some of my other pictures. ]:|I decided to remove it before he could do any further damage.

Hiya Callatya,

Really? I could have dropped in to visit. Anyway that's a very nice place you live in. Yeah we had breakfast there and they brought out some of the animals for us to touch. Yes, she accepted. It would have been a very quiet 8 more days if she had turned me down... ] Anyway I had thought of bringing her up to the Harbour Bridge Climb for the question but learnt that we can't bring up our cameras so I chose the fact that we were alone and popped the question there and then. At least it wouldn't have been so embarrassing if she said no. But now she wants to go back there every year for our anniversary! I am going to be broke soon.

OK, so Wish-ga was asking where is the picture of you and your partner?

Well here it is, I am the guy. There, I am real. Real ugly but real. Don't photoshop it please...

Congrats on your engagement Validator!

I'm glad you had such a good time here. Next time you should try to come up north as well (though, maybe not in summer!)

Babelfish, the purple trees are called Jacarandas. They are all over Brisbane, and bloom from about October. Uni students use them as a sign that it's time to get cracking on end-of-semester assignments . They are one of my favourite things about Brisbane, you can see splotches of vibrant purple everywhere amongst the green.

That's part of New Farm Park, IMO one of the most beautiful parks in Australia.[/font]

oooh JB that's a beautiful pic! we have jacarandas here too but I've never seen them in a row like that. And I have to say no pic can do them justice. You have to see the colour to believe it

Hiya Just Beginning,

Thanks! Yeah I did try to talk her into going with short stint at Brisbane in the last trip but we figured we did not have enough time. Guess there is another time. She likes Cairns as well.

Yes, now that I recall those purple flowers were the thing that caught my eye and made me take that picture. But to see a whole group of those trees would be amazing! It would be like what the tour guide described when I was in Scotlad last year about the sides of the mountains covered in Lavender during I think September.

Making plans for my next trip already.
