I've been put on various different diets through random stages through out my life. All normally for different reasons. I've also get a diet log from time to time.

Trying to track and understand my GED (Generalized Eating Disorder). I'm not Bulemic, or Anorexic, etc, I have something undefined.
I've also tracked it, to try and figure out Migraine triggers.
And recently I've tried to track it *at least in my head* over this new thing.

I can tell you, the only thing I ate this last time it happened, was cheese pizza & garlic bread from Sabaro's. I've eaten at that same exact shop at least a hundred times with out any problems. I also had Apple Juice.

As far as cutting back on fats or anything, I do try to eat healthy for the most part. But, at the same time, the type of eating disorder I have is strange. I'll suddenly for no reason out of the blue have no desire to eat anything. This will last anywhere from an hour, to over a week. Where the best I can do is shove something like Ensure or Boost down my throat.
Because of this, my doctors have told me to eat WHATEVER, as long as I'm actually getting some type of food back into my body to trigger me to start eating normally again. Be it a bag of Cheeto's or a bowl of Brocolli.

So, if I go on any kind of diet, and I'm having one of these not eating episodes, and the only thing I happen to want after a week of not eating is a bunch of junk food, I'm sure going to eat that junk food instead of waiting around even longer until I want that fat free rice cake, lol.

And yes, I have tried to force myself to eat when this "thing" happens, and I just wind up gagging, no matter what the food is if I don't want it.
I don't think I'm fat, I don't think I need to loose weight, if anything until recently I've always been rather on the too skinny side. But, the desire to eat, really just is not there, makes me sick to my stomach to even consider eating sometimes. :%):%)

What exactly is a Gall Bladder Attack, I've never heard of such a thing.

Calla: I don't honestly know how recently I've had any tests done on my liver. I'm sure someone has done it with in the past 2 years at least *I get a lot of tests done when I actually have insurance*.

I do know, that when I was 13 they did a test on my liver, and I something like a rediculously high White Blood Cell count, they mentioned something like they've only seen this type of thing a couple of times, etc. Who knows. But, something was wrong with it.
Maybe due to an overdose of Tylenol a week before *shrugs*.
Anyway, I don't know what came of that, or if it fixed itself.

I move so often and constantly change doctors, it's hard for them to keep up with what one another has already done.

I've had a colonoscopy, tested for parasites and a barium enima which all came back fine.

Some how I have a feeling this has to do with an on going issue. Ever since I gave birth to my daughter almost 5 years ago, I've had serious abdominial pains, crippling pains, feels like I'm still in labor pains.
But, so far no one has a clue what's causing it, or how to avoid it. So this naseau might just be a new part steaming from that?

Hi Tammy,

Really sorry to hear about the illnesses, but I sense a fighter in you so I'm sure you'll come thru the other end in one piece.

Luckily I've never had a serious illness in my 40 some years, despite an incredibly unhealthy lifestyle.

But have been spending more time then I would like with doctors. I've been married going on 2 years now. We are both desperate to start a family, but so far it hasn't happened (the practice is still fun though).

We decided to seek medical help. Turns out we both have problems and have been trying to work them out. Problem is here in Indonesia medical services are dire even in the expensive private hospitals. At times it's hard to know if the doctors are actually trying to help or trying to squeeze more cash out of us. Some the diagnosis' and treatments have been bizarre to say the least. We've basically given up hope of trying to sort out the problem here and will try to get treatment/advice in Ireland when we next get there.

The worse thing is my wife's periods is constantly 2-3 weeks late or don't show up at all. Despite not trying to get our hopes up we always end up wondering if this is it only to have our hopes dashed on a negative test result which has become a monthly torment.Of course another problem with living here is having somebody to talk to these things about. Tha's were forums like the ones you posted can really help. Just a release and the ability to talk to people who have been thru the same.

Anyway hope things work out for you and I'm sure Hank is strong support for you (you sounded very close when we chatted briefly).I'll drop a word in "The Big Fella's" ear too

Wow Gary.. You remembered.. I mentioned that to you ages ago. Yes, that was back in 1992. I was very very lucky. The tumor was "contained" and removing it cured the problem. All I have left of that episode of my life is a 3 inch scar that is barely noticeable now. Oh, and the realization that having cancer is not necessarily a death sentence.

This condition isn't going to be as simple. As it stands right now I have to go back into the hospital on Monday for another heart cath. There is a possibility that one of the grafts collapsed. I'm not overly concerned, I feel pretty good. Just slight chest pressure after exertion which I mentioned to my Cardiologist. He ordered a stress test this past week and it showed an "abnormality". A section of my heart is not receiving the necessary blood flow. I'm hoping there is a possibility that it could be the 5th blockage that they originally found and did not correct when I had my surgery. They felt (at the time) that it wasn't severe enough to do a graft on it, that hopefully the meds I now take would help to reverse its affect but that regardless it would only require a stent to correct at some point. My vote is for the stent!!

Gary, Thank You for the prayers. I appreciate that.

Prof. Monkeypants... Thank You and surviving is the name of the game!!

Calla... Thank You... From your lips to God's ears kiddo...

My main purpose for starting this thread wasn't to make this about me. It was to try and help anyone that may find themselves in a similar circumstance, give hope to those that may be going through something that may seem hopeless, help remove confusion and fear that people face in times of severe illness by giving them a place to go to get answers, and lastly to let folks know that I am here to listen and share what I have learned if they want.

Take Care All..

Tam, I would pity any illness that decided to take you on. They obviously don't know what they are in for!

Angel, Liver tests. I bet you have had them, but it sounds very liver-related. Just be sure every time you get a blood test, you get that liver checked too.

Didn't you tell me you had a bout with breast cancer awhile ago, Tammy???...

If that's true I believe you've had enough of sickness to fill a room or two.

It's not easy. My prayers are coming your way.

Angel...

Those Forums I mentioned have a Gastroenterology Forum, which is a forum covering the digestive system. There is also a section of the website dedicated to articles written about different topics. I'm not saying that you are going to find your answers there but gathering as much knowledge is the best course to take and I will guaranteee you that you will come away from those forums a more knowledgeable person.

You may say that you wouldn't want to have any treatment or procedures done that could put you in debt. Nobody likes debt but there are times that the alternative to not getting anything done are far less acceptable.

I personnally feel that my life (and yours) is worth some hard earned cash if it means every morning we have a pulse.

Take Care...

We never know who amongst us deals with what on a daily basis. I'm sure you younger folks don't think about this and unless you have had to deal with a serious illness/condtion you probably wouldn't think much about it either. I am sure though that there are those here who will be able to relate with what I am going to say. It may not be you, but it could be a beloved family member, (parent, grandparent, etc.) or a friend.

Well over a year ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition. I went to the Dr's and they ran all the pertinent tests and took the course of action that we all hoped would end my problems, they placed a stent in my heart. Fast forward to today. Just over 5 weeks ago I ended up back in the hosptial and had to have open heart surgery. I had 4 grafts (bypasses) placed around my heart. It has been quite a learning experience. My "issue" after the surgery was trying to find if sensations that I was having since the operation were normal in regards to healing. As common as open heart surgery is today you would not believe how hard it is to find others to speak to that have undergone what you have! Which brings me to why I am posting this...

If there are members, and this includes loved ones of members here at FishProfiles that have or may in the future have to face what I have, I found an absolutely wonderful set of forums online that has helped me tremendously in answering questions and helping me in general with better understanding my condition. This isn't only heart related either. They have many other medical forums for various illnesses.

The Medical Specialty Forums is overseen by Med Help International. Using these forums gives the patient (and family members) a chance to ask questions to leading physicians and healthcare professionals. This isn't something that is only available to those in the United States. I have seen people post from all over the world.

Here is the link to their mainpage...

http://www.medhelp.org/index.htm

I have the ability to ask questions of the cardiologists from the top Cardiac Care facility in the United States (possibly the world) The Cleveland Clinic. It has been a godsend not only having that ability but being able to converse with others that have had to experience what I have.

Bookmark the link. You never know when this may come in handy.

Also, I am here to share experiences or just plain listen to anyone that may be going through what I have.

Take Care All... Stay healthy...

Tammy

AngelZoo...It would be interesting to keep a track of what you eat each day, and when you are having these problems. I have similar symptoms when I am have a GallBladderAttack. It isn't fun at all, and if this is what it is there are easy ways to combat and prevent it. Try cutting back the fats you are eating (at one point I was basically only eating lettuce...) I find that if I can make a really strong (2-3 tea bags) cup of hot Chamomile tea, and get it down at the first signs of an attack, I can usually prevent it from getting to it's utmost worse...maybe that can help till insurance comes...best of luck...Heidi

Eh I don't think there is much that could get me in to see a doctor right now, and it would be the hospital if anything.
I recently developed a strange allergy to DepyKures (sp?) It's that flavored eh... adult drink. I think that's the closests I can come to discribing it with out getting in trouble on here.

None the less, it reacts to me, much like how seafood reacts to other people in an almost deadly way.
Laying on the couch for 3 hours, barely breathing, semi concious and no feelings from my arms down. I still refused to let my fiance bring me to the hospital.
I did however go to the doctors the next day for a $60.00 visit *sigh*.

I'd rather die, then be in debt for the rest of my life because of hopsital bills. Being highly in debt is NO way to live. At least in my opinion.

Booger...

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. It's rough, I know. I was *there* with both of my parents before I had to face this for myself. Thank goodness your Dad is able to live his life as well as he is right now with that amount of heart damage. That is a blessing and also says alot in regards to his constitution. A strong man. I admire that. I'll bet he has a good attitude about living life too. Give your Dad a hug the next time you see him for me. It will be like me being able to hug my own Dad again. I wish I had my Dad back. I'd love to be able to ask him some things I never thought of while I still had him here with me. Time is precious Shannen take advantage of it where he is concerned..

Babel... sorry about your Grandpa. Buying shoes eh? YIKES! Happy to hear that he was doing well the last time you heard.

Angel... sorry to hear about your problems. Insurance or not, please don't hesitate to get checked out if it continues to worsen. I know insurance is important. I'd hate to think what all of this would be costing me if I didn't have any. _Still_ life is precious and there is always a way. Take Care...

Sorry to hear about your problem. I haven't had anything bad, directly heart related yet on a personal level. Though I do have family that is affected with such problems.

The link you gave seems nice, I am certainly checking it out. But unfortunatly some of the problems I have, seem to have no rhyme or reason to them, thusly I'm sure the Doctors on that site won't have much information for me either.

I won't go through all my issues, too long to list. But right now I don't have health insurance, one of our companies is saving up money to pay for it right now, the rest is already set up.
Over about the past month or so, I'll suddenly with in a split second become very nausious (sp?). My face and body turn completely pale, and sometimes I will vomit too. Each case seems to be getting worse. Last time I was in bed asleep in this almost coma like state, very dizzy and out of it for about 14 hours straight. The next day I even felt like death warmed over. This was the 2nd time it has been that bad.
I never know when it will happen or what causes it.
I've already done a pregnancy test *this morning actually* and that was negative.
So I suppose this happening, is of my current largest concern.

*Raises hand* About two years ago my granfather almost died after a heart attack while buying some shoes of all things! Both my grandmother and father are healthy eaters, both active (had been living year round on an island for most of the time I was growing up, in winters they lived by themselves). So it came as quite a shock.

He had a quadruple bypass and last I knew was doing quite well. Even being grown up doesn't make the fact that somehow you still immagine your grandparents as immortal and unlikely to ever get injured let alone die....of course mine aren't your ordinary grandparents .

*hugs* T'anks for the link Tammy, always good to know good places for info!

Thanks for the link Tammy. *hugs*

About 2 yrs ago I was working in Orlando and got a call from my brother that my dad (58) had a heart attack “come home now”! They all live in Jacksonville FL. So I made the 2 and half hr drive up there not knowing if he was ok. Turns out it was a really bad one. The artery that feeds blood to his heart had clogged and no longer could supply his heart with blood.

He was really lucky. He pulled through. They had to put a stent in and he lost 40 percent of his hearts ability to function. Come to find out it was all caused from high cholesterol and quitting smoking. Go figure he quit something very bad for him to help his health and it almost kills him. As his blood vessels opened back up (a smoker’s are constricted) it freed plaque that clogged his artery.

2 months later the stent failed. He was now back on life support and not looking so good. The doctors where able to put another stent in. And he once again cheated death.

The bad news: He has now lost a total of 50 percent of his hearts ability to function. The scar tissue around this artery is so severe that a bypass is not an option. If this stent fails he will die. He has also had to get a defibrillator implanted under his skin that is attached to his heart…just in case.

The good news: He feels fine has no trouble getting around and is just taking it one day at a time.

I do know what you are going through and am very sorry!
