Try rubbing some powdered hot pepper on it. It has worked for me in the past. Also, there are some products on the market to help... one is bitter apple. You can get it at pet stores, and the point is it tastes so bad that they don't want to bite at it. It worked when my cat kept chewing through my computer wires. Good luck!

Along the same lines as the powdered hot pepper. My free-roaming bunny kept eating the furniture. A couple of squirts of water mixed with blended habenero peppers cured that. The animal should by smell stay away. If the puppy is stupid enough to lick it just give him milk to drink. The milk nuetralizes the peppers faster than any other known source. That is why the guys in those champion hot pepper eating contests drink milk

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

bitter apple is mostly to keep animals from eating stuff. the pepper mix works best if you don't want to buy anything expensive. otherwise citronella works sometimes to keep pets away from things they shouldn't ordinarily be getting into

My puppy did the same thing and tore up my kitchen linoleum! The sour apple spray works pretty good as stated above... You might even just rub tabasco over it! Good luck!
