He was on a long awaited holiday in Peru where he suffered a heart attack. He had one of the best voices on radio. I met him in 1999 at Glastonbury festival, when I was working on the crew. He ate my food! (Among 500 others each mealtime ![]() x |

That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions |

I get the feeing radio one will never play some motown b-side straight after a minute-long grindcore song ever again, and that is an extremely bad thing. He did seem to be the onluy one stemming a tide of absolute homoenous idiocy on british commercial radio, and good as home truths etc were, it was his music radio show, as well as his genuine likeability, that was his greatest achievement. there is no-one who gives even the slightest hint of being able to step into his shoes. RIP |

Never realised he was that old, making me feel my age now. For people who never heard of him or didn't grow up at that time, his profound influence on a generation of music lovers won't be understood. He's a lighthouse in a sea of mediocrity. RIP. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
