I used to be a Mac person, but then for some reason I got PC and after a while I decided I liked it better. Now I only use PCs (but I still have like seven old Macs from the 80s/90s in the garage). I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

If you're gonna use it strictly for word processing, spreadsheets, email, web surfing, researching, etc (and if you've got the money to spare), you might want to go with a mac... But with macs being ba Or there's always linux... which macOS is ba My vote goes for a PC w/macOS and linux installed on diff partitions...best of all 3 worlds If you don't wanna do something that crazy, I'd vote for PC just because it's totally compatible with everything out there these days... and you can build them yourself if you know what you're doing... <---voted PC HTH |

just beginning Moderator Literature Nerd Posts: 1879 Kudos: 1380 Votes: 198 Registered: 17-Dec-2000 | Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac. I'm a complete Mac convert after years of unstable, easily outdated PCs. Of course, this is mainly because I am a graphic designer, and the Adobe suite is basically designed for Mac and converted for PC, as i understand it. At work I use a Mac which is about 4 years old, with a 10gb hard drive, 448mb RAM and a 400mh g4 processor, running OSX 10.2.8. At home I have a two and a half year old HP laptop with a 20gb hard drive, 256mb RAM, 2gh processor running XP home. The laptop, although newer and with mostly better specs, gives me endless problems, and I can't run any of the newer Adobe suites at all. My Mac at work, on the other hand, runs Abode CS with no problems, and in general works day in day out with only a few issues in the last two years. Finally, Macs are just so much better looking! As are most Mac stores - I went to one in NYC recently which was just jaw-dropping. Very, very soon I'm going to be closing up my laptop for everything except a few PC games, and replacing it with one of the new Imac G5s with the Intel processor. I'm salivating for it. So, because they're cheap, I'm using a PC. One beauty of my PC is that it's now a dual boot. Windows and Linux. The only reason I hang on to Windows is because many of the apps I use for serious work are Windows apps (PhotoShop being a big plus point here). I know that The Gimp does a lot of things on Linux that PhotoShop does, but I'm holding out for a proper Linux version of PhotoShop. Which may happen one day, who knows? Can't say I'm a fan of OpenOffice on Linux though. It's a tad clunky. However, the programming utilities for Linux are WAY better than most of the Windows ones. And they're free! |
