I've found them in my house before, and at first they scared the crap out of me because I had never seen something that looked so weird. http://www.geocities.com/tocatlampa/windscorpion_full.jpg EDIT: They also have like two pairs of jaws. I like to look at them and I'm always trying to strike a balance between killing the ticks and not harming my pets or us. "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

I've seen many shows that tell about certain ones & I find some of their behavior to be fascinating......... though I still cringe while watching it. |

Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | My favorites belong to the spider-like order Solifugae (camel spiders and the like). However, if you expand this to include ALL Chelicerata, I'd have to go with either horseshoe crabs or eurypterids (7 foot arthropod predator FTW!). Joe Potato Edit: Wow, Natalie, I read yours as "whip scorpions", not "wind scorpions". It wasn't until I noticed the order names the same that I figured out we were talking about the same thing. I've never heard them called "wind scorpions" before. Although, to be fair, whip scorpions are cool too. Anything that can fling formic acid around gets a vote of "Awesome" from me. |

It actually was going to be all of the Chelicerata, but I felt that combining a class as large and diverse as Arachnida into one option would be doing the group a disservice.
