I hated rampage (C-C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER)... Until it came out for N64, both sequels of which were pretty fun.

Joust is probably my favorite out of the three, because, although the graphics were pretty good for an A800 game, Spy Hunter just didn't appeal to me, and the gameplay was meh, too.

Joust was one of the best.

I think it was only in arcades, but I was a huge Tempest player.

I like playing really old Nintendo/NES games like Super Mario World 3, Duck Hunt, some Lion King game I have, etc...

On Playstation, I still play Final Fantasy VII, which was created almost eight years ago!

I had an Atari, too. I loved Pitfall, Space Invaders, Pole Position, and of course Pong.

Wolfenstein 3D The best!

Other than that I played mostly shareware games... shareware was the best, back in the day. Now hardly anything is shareware and what is is more like demos, they rarely come with a good trial period...

Escape Velocity was one of the good ones... and more popular. My brother still plays it, but I don't have a copy on my computer.

Yipe! was my favorite. Hilarious yet challenging at the same time. Excellent.

one word: [link=nethack!]http://nethack.org/" style="COLOR: #ff0044[/link] it used to be called "rogue", then someone else made "hack", and then the latest incarnation is "nethack", because the programming team played hack and communicated about it over the net...

All that is old is new again.
The must have game this Christmas is the retro style joysticks that plug directly into your TV and come with a selection of old Atari or Nintendo games. Those of us who are "old school" game nerds can now feel vindicated. Now I'm gonna go fire up my Galaga and see if I can beat my wife's high score!

Return to Monkey Island (the series) was one of the better games I've played to this day. Definitely a classic. Grim Fandango was good, too. As a general rule, lucasarts was good up until they released galaxies.

On the other hand, my SNES collection is pretty huge, and though they aren't what I'd consider "vintage", the games it spawned are definitely groundbreakers (EARTHBOUND? ?).

I had a Magnavox Odyssey, an Atari 2600 when it first hit the shelves, and played a few on a C64 (Forbidden Forest was a fave)...oh yes, and played the first tabletop Pong game in Western Canada on the day it arrived....hows that for retro?

Ultima Underworld

It was the first true 3D game. It came out before Wolfenstein 3D, great game.....ah memories. I also had a commodore 64, now that's old school.

As of right now, I'm playing dragon warrior for the nes, oh man what a classic. "thou hast slayed the green dragon"
"and trogdor burninated the countryside"

Metroid is my favorite series EVER....all the games are awesome...except I haven't played the new one on the gamecube so I don't know about that.

And moondog, you must be a packrat. I don't have room to hold onto all my old stuff, unfortunately.

Oh, how about King's Quest?

I should break out the old NES and play some games... Unfortunately, it barely works anymore... *sigh* I still haven't beaten the original Super Mario Bros. :%)

Zelda I was awesome.

For some reason I always found it hilarious when I'd make him hit his sword on inanimate objects...
