Awesome.

I would absolutely love to go on any any slightly organised collecting trip.

I think tomorrow I'm going to go out and see if I can capture the elusive windscorpion (a very difficult task, as they got their name because they "run like the wind". I've only encountered two of them in them in the time I've lived here, and the last one was a few years ago. They are pretty scary looking. They aren't venomous at all since they are not true scorpions, but they give one hell of a bite.

I've never actually regarded them as pets, though they are quite an awesome sight to behold (plus they get the honor of being the only arachnids that I don't scream like a two year old girl over). My cousin actually is currently in the process of getting a pHD on arachnid anatomy with a focus on these animals. With my aspirations of becoming a zoologist, I have naturally go collecting with him whenever the opportunity presents itself. I've gone once in Texas where we had a family reunion, once in Washington State where he lives (hell, I never even knew they had scorpions up there), and when he visited us, down in the local canyon. Most Cali scorps aren't poisonous, however, so you shouldn't be worried about being stung (I see you've already gotten over that ).

EDIT: It should be added that we never caught anything in the canyon adjacent to my house.
