Ok, here's the situation. I won a auction on Aquabid on May 27. I was out of town til later that week. When I got back I sent my payment using paypal. So nothing, the next week I email the guy. He writes back saying he'd been busy, but would ship the fish the next week. So nothing, last week I email him saying "What's the problem". No reply. This week I email him again, again no reply. He's got like 500 positive feedbacks, no negative. I thought there would be no problem ordering from him. So what do you guys think? Wait it out, or just figure I'm out $50.

not every paypal transaction is covered like that. but definitely check with paypal and ask around to other people that have bid with this person to see what their experience is.

He is most likely out of town or something.

Before I bought my Rubber Boas a few weeks ago, I initially sent the guy an email inquiring about shipping costs. Two days went by and I got no reply, so I emailed him again asking if he was still interested in selling the boas. Another week went by and I still got no reply. Then a few days later, while I was emailing another person about their Rubber Boas, I got an email from the first guy. It turned out he was on a vacation or something. I don't know why someone would go out of town right after posting an ad, but apparently it happens.

I would wait a few more days, and then maybe see about filing a complaint with PayPal or whatever. Or, possibly, you can request from AquaBid his home address (or PO box or whatever), and send him a letter.

Out of town or not, you deserve to know when your order is coming, and if it isn't coming, you deserve a refund at the earliest possible convenience.

I'd send him another email requesting the ETA on the fish, suggesting that if he cannot supply them, that you would like a refund within 3 days.

If you get no reply and no fish, I'd give him negative or neutral, because thats lousy service.

Out of curiousity, is this an overseas breeder or a transhipper? Sometimes there is a lot of to-ing and fro-ing that goes on there and if you are talking direct with the breeder, he may no longer be in possession of the fish and you may be best served going through the transhipper for your area.

Also, there is a bit of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" going on, and many breeders have several seller names and have partners in other areas, or family members elsewhere, so be aware that although deserved, be sure that you word your feedback carefully and precisely as if you aren't specific it may be taken as you being a difficult buyer and its as good as shooting yourself in the foot.

Thanks for all the advice. I emailed a guy who had sold fish to my buyer last month and it took him awhile to get paid. So my plan is to follow Callatya's advise and email him saying I either want my fish or my money. If that doesn't work then I'll go to Aquabid. I'm just so disappointed. I just wanted the fish. I was trying to find fish that I can't get here, at least not without paying an arm and a leg! Makes me not want to use Aquabid, although I know it's not really their fault.

You might want to go to the aquabid forums and post a question in the feedback forum explaining your situation and asking if anyone knows if he is in town/etc, or if anyone knows anything about that buyer. If this is your first purchase, and you have zero feedback, then some sellers are quick to assume you are a fake bidder (there is a lot of that).

fake bidders don't transfer the money though.

Latest update, sent the email asking for my fish or money, but still no reply. If I don't hear from him tomorrow I will contact Aquabid. Has anyone else ever had these problems, or is just my bad luck??

Good news, after contacting Aquabid yesterday, this morning had an email saying my fish had shipped and would be here tomorrow! Now, hopefully, they all make it.
