So I went to Arkansas for the holiday I'm gone for like 5 days and we have our friend watching our animals while we are gone *he's watched them before*.

But I come home last night, to find the heat OFF (I left it on at about 71) and it's 54 degree's in my home!!!

Needless to say, so far I've counted about 5 lost fish, all 3 of my endlers are dead, and 2 of my bettas

My poor cats and rats... Lets just say, NO it's not fun living in your own pee and puke... my poor babies!

sounds like you need a better heater.

The heater in your tank should be able to keep the temp in the 70's when the room temp is that low.

I think she means the thermostat for her house, not her tank heater.

Sorry about your loss. I guess that will be the last time that he watches your animals.

i know she was talking about the thermostat.

But the tank heater should still be able to heat the tank and keep it in the 70's

Not if it's a small tank vict even with a heater on 24/7 if the air temp drops enough theres no way it can maintain the tempp .

*hugs* sorry AngelZoo, that's a horrid thing to have to deal with .

Ferret: Nope, no more ferrets for us. Specially now that we just found out my fiance has asthma... we already knew he had allergies to everything furry, but now asthma attacks from small furry things *though he seems to be ok with our cats now after 4 years*.

I have heaters in 2 of my bigger tanks, they were ok heat wise, but I don't have heaters in my betta bowls and such.
