Here is a short video of a male Superb Lyrebird's courtship display. It's really amazing. This video is from "The Life of Birds" series by David Attenborough (my hero).

Not really much to say, I just thought since most people here are nature/animal lovers they would find it interesting.

EDIT: Also, I thought I should mention that David Attenborough was voted as the greatest living British icon on BBC.co.uk. He's even better than Paul McCartney and David Bowie. Seriously.

That was unbelievable! I have two parrots that can't even imitate that well! And that was a wild bird!

I can believe what you said about David Attenborough. I have many (inherited) video tapes of animal shows recorded off of tv. with him in many of them. I also have, "life on Earth", a natural history written & hosted by David Attenborough. 466 min. in a boxed, two tape set. Excellent entertainment & learning for adults as well as older children! Beautiful, vivid color! I can watch that thing over & over again!

Wow... that's a really amazing bird...

Harvey (my green-cheeked conure) was yelling at me because I was paying attention to a bird other than him...

I had the same situation superlion. I got sidetracked on You Tube & was playing a bunch of clips of birds talking. I have an African Grey & a Double-Yellow Headed-Amazon that loved hearing their relatives & joined right in!

These birds by the way were also from unwanted homes......... as I mentioned my dogs & cats were, in another thread.

One of them screams at the top of it's lungs if our voices get too loud. It came from a "loud family situation". They both holler my hubby's name whenever we are in the kitchen or sitting down to eat. They don't stop till he gives them a bite off his plate. What starts out cute, can turn into not so cute!

Just for Fish Patty ...

Talk Louder, I Own A Moluccan Cockatoo

Moluccan Cockatoos are probably the world's LOUDEST birds. Some inidividuals have been recorded putting out their calls at 140 decibels - that's equivalent to being alongside an F-15 as it warms up the afterburners for a take off ...

So, if anyone is thinking of owning one of these birds, be advised ... they need LOTS of TLC, LOTS of fuss and attention from their owners, and when they're in full cry, you can hear them over a kilometre away.

Wow cali........... glad I don't have one of THOSE! Sometimes I want to strangle the two I have!

I found a bird that has more of the attitude of one of ours! This one is an excellent talker! Enjoy.
