It's on the National news how cold & snowy it is up there! I feel for you all, as I remember when it was like that here, only we had freezing rain that brought tree limbs down, then the power lines! I hope you all keep safe & warm with your cold & snow & hopefully no freezing rain! |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | It made it to -12 and -32 with windchill. The water to the stable froze including the heated automatic water tank. There are 8horses that drink around 10-15gallons each in a 24hour period. I've been hauling water from the house nearly constantly since Sunday. I think the muscles in my right arm have quit working. I can't even close my hand into a fist. Tomorrow I have aikido so I doubt I'll be able to move by tomorrow night. |

Sham- You better quit using that right arm & let it rest or you might end up with something similar to what I had. I wouldn't wish that on anybody! |

crazyred Fish Addict LAZY and I don't care :D Posts: 575 Kudos: 360 Votes: 293 Registered: 26-Aug-2005 | Well, I'm in the high 70's low 80's this week. Just 'cause it's the 'States doesn't = snow. Our low so far has been 35f. You would have thought it was a blizzard out there. I've lived where it's cold for a long time (Oklahoma...lol) I'll have to pass. I like the weather down here except for May, June, July, August, and most of Spetember. It's time to start planting the garden down here. My grapefruit tree should start blooming soon. /:' "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | My boyfriend is from Georgia. He'd never seen more than 1" of snow and then he got here and by the end of winter we measure the stuff in feet. He decided to go out without socks on, followed me over a snow drift to cut across the yard to the vehicle, and all of a sudden he's hopping around in circles grabbing his ankle and yelling something about cold. My sister and I about fell down laughing. Yes snow is cold when it touches bare skin that's why you wear socks with your shoes and avoid stepping in the deep spots. fish patty you probably did a tendon injury. Those hurt alot and can take weeks to heal. All I think I've damaged is muscle and muscles heal fast when you stop beating them up for awhile. Although after hauling all that water I found my knee was kinda weak when doing aikido last night. Injured joints heal worse than tendons. |

Doedogg Banned Posts: 408 Kudos: 737 Votes: 445 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 | supposedly its 13+ and snowing (I can see the snowing part) Its definitely not the worst winter I've ever seen but I still wonder what I'm doing here! French Polynesia is looking good ATM! * the worst winter was in the early 90s..it never got above 0 for a month, -20 was a good DAY, and -35 was the coldest night. ~ Mae West |

Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003 | Sham! I try to make sure I really bundle up when I'm out in the snow, cause the camera is usually with me. I have this disturbing habit of not paying attention to anything except what I'm shooting. I only come in when I cant bend my finger enough to get the trigger to fire. This is a bad habit to have I know, and I'm going to have to break it once I have a housing for my camera. Not paying attention to your surroundings is not good when your under 100' of water . Doe I remember a winter like that, musta been '95 was the year we got 4' of snow all at once, school was closed for a week and we had temps in the -30's . Sunny and a bit on the warm side, but there's a nice breeze so it's fairly good in the shade. ^_^ |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | sham- Now that your boyfriend knows the basics about snow............ I hope you taught him how to wear shoes & socks & go water your horses for you so you can heal up. If you haven't done it yet, you could reward him with some snow ice cream. The kids around here really like it, but I never took to it. Reading all these posts about cold & snow is just making me colder. Sounds like Babelfish has it made in the shade though! |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | Supposedly we got 6" but the sun is shining and it's 29F outside so it really doesn't look any different than a few days ago. Aside from the extra vehicles in the ditch. There's a semi facing south west on the right side of the east bound lanes on interstate. I'm not sure I want to know all the details of how it got there. |
