heidi you can be as bubbly as you like! I'd be positively boiling over if it was me getting a 125g tank!

Please keep us up to date as the story progresses. I love living vicariously through other people's tanks and fishy experiences!

Nice! A 125 for $125? You've got a real excuse to be excited. You deserve extra kudos for getting twenty cories, you made a good choice indeed.

Oh my!!! Next time when someone says to find another guy to help move something I WILL LISTEN!!! I feel as though I now resemble a chimp, or that my arms are out of placeYes, yours truly and one other guy moved that 125 gallon tank. I was doing good till we got about 5 foot from my front door, and then once it was in the house, I had to set my end down for a second on the arm of the couch! I wimped out. I felt as though my arms were being dislocated, my legs were wobbling so much I must have looked like a new born foal. Donald King (the guy who drove it to my place and I helped carry it) was AWESOMEHe didn't whine when I began to lose it, and encouraged me on; but then again what else could he do? I paid him $30 instead of the $25, heck he deserved more than that, but I didn't have it on me.

After swearing I wasn't going to do anything else tonight, and walking back out to the car with him, I ended up deciding to carry in 2 of the 25# bags of gravel, and getting started with it. So I now have the tank on the stand, 50# of gravel (I still have #50 more in the truck), the heaters connected and set to 78, the pump running, and it's filled a little more than 75%, I guess about 100 gallons or so (dang that is a lot of water)

OK I guess that's it for now...gonna attach some pictures so ya'll can watch the progress ...oh and it was $125, it was $400, still one heck of a deal in my opinion Heidi

2/3rds full there abouts

is that new? or used?

I ask as that looks exactly like the 125 my friend in porter had before he moved to NY. Don't know if he got rid of the tank or not..

anyway, congrats

I know this is a weird request, but could you get more pictures of the stand? All inside and everything please.

My dad is building me a stand for the same size tank, and he likes seeing other stands for ideas and such.

You're really lucky! It was a good deal. Are you going to plant it? You better plant it, the tank deserves it!

I feel it is well worth the drive to Houston, if you are only 5 hrs away....South Houston, just off I-45 North of Beltway 8, south of 610 Loop

I'll post more pics soon, Promise heidi

Ok here is the latest addition to The Story:

All I could think about today was getting back home and playing in the tanknot good when I supposed to be teaching is it?

Anyways I managed to get home rather early today 4:00pm and added another 25# of gravel, and am beginning to wonder how much gravel I'll need probably another 50# I know. I did all the water treatments, and now need to know where can I get the bacteria starter, stress coat, and this plant growth with iron (it says on the bottle it is perfectly safe for all fish life, etc...) and the lady at PetSmart suggested it since my pants don't thrive as well as I want them too. So is there a place to buy this type of stuff in larger bottles? Should I talk to PetSmart or another LFS to see if they can order it larger and cut me a deal?

Well, before leaving the house again I added the Anacharis I bought (10 bunches), and the other grassy plant (10 bunches) to the tank, though I did plant them yet, and I added 3' of airstones, and got them hooked up...

Now I'm fixing to take this other canister filter I bought by mistake and add it to the filtration, current etc. tonight.

the pictures I have for tonight are of the metae Corries still in the 29...Jeez I'm In LoveHeidi

one last time

OK that didn't work did it? Here it is as it stands/sits for now...I still have 50 more lbs of gravel, and one decoration I want to add for the time being (nice drift wood formation I found)

As far as it being new or used, it's new...still had all the paper stuff for it and all...this little lfs keeps a lot of them, and sales them cheap, so i'm quite happy...hopefully this will work

I guess it helps if it less than 100 KB's huh:%) Heidi

Very nice Heidi. Looks a lot like our 75 with a huge piece of driftwood in the middle of the tank.

The floating plant looks like red ludwigia. I have some in my tank. It helps to leave the lead weight on the stems until roots grow and the plant becomes established.

Keep the weights handy. You'll need them again when you prune it and replant the prunings.

"You think you have an child on a sugar buzz? Let me show you energy!!!" These Danties are everywhere at once. They are only about 0.5-0.75 inches (1.27-1.91 cm), about the same size as the neons I just got, but they are literally everywhere all at the same time...funny little devils

Not the best picture coming, but it shows how all the tetras are trying to form one schoolThat would be 20 Wild Neon Tetras, 10 Wild Emperor Tetras, and 2-3 year old Neon Tetras, probably a couple of Danty Corries in this school also, they have tried to school with everything:%)

Shannen as soon as I have finished planting the plants that are currently floatingI will take a full tank picture or two or three

So tonight I shall go home and finish planting my plants, and all for you shannenAlso tonight I wil be finally putting my drift wood in the tankI finally took it out of Leslie's trunk, and it is currently soaking in my bathtub

Now I shall add...Leslie and I went to Village Tropical Aquarium (or something like that:%)) this moring and also visited another lfs that we will not name (it had tons of tanks everywhere, but didn't have any fish to speak of, yes you read that correctly the tanks were running, but didn't have any fishgo figure. They did have a full size--i'm hopingRed Bellied Paco, thank ya'll for stopping me from making that mistake)

Anyways, Village Tropical is as awesome as I had been told, and it was worth the drive But, I kind of went a bit overboard I got 15 Hasboro Corries ($18), 20 Wild Neon Tetras ($24), 10 Wild Emperor Tetras ($20), 15 bundles of Anacharis, and 5 bundles of Twisted Vail ($15). I feel as though I got some really good deals

My new neons are schooling and swimming behind the other 2 neons i've had forever. The Hasboro Corries are just goofy as all get out swimming everywhere at once, and the Emperor Tetras are schooling loosely with themselves and the neons. Hilarious to watch, tonight I'll be setting things straight how i want them and I'll get pictures For now that is all the fish I'll be adding (also got some more of the bacteria stuff I use)

That place though was wonderful, and I think I could have stayed there for a couple of hours, but the guy who was helping us, ended up with my squealing each time I saw another breed of corries...there were at least 8 different types of corries...if anyone ventures to the Houston area it is well worth the trouble of getting to, call us and we will meet you Ok I'm still wound up from the trip, don't think there will be any sleep tonight:%)--Heidi

I have a 100, 62, 55, and 10 gallon all in a 2nd floor apartment...I used to build houses, so I knew it would be able to support it as long as the larger tanks are against main support walls (the 100 gallon is against the front wall while the 55 and 62 are against the far side walls of my apartment)...as long as I had the wall space, I'd be willing to keep the 225 I "took care of/moved" in my apartment...

No doubt that 125 was heavy heidi! I moved my 100 up the stairs and into my apartment with just the help of one other guy, and the worst I had to do was move a 225 WITH 150 lbs of gravel and a small amount of water through one apartment, across 100 feet of parking lot, and through another apartment with the help of just one other guy...and he didn't even struggle...and I thought I was gonna die...

Tank's looking fantastic heidi!

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Heidi's apartment is on the first floor, on a concrete slab. So the weight isn't an issue in her apartment. However, I wouldn't put it in a second floor apartment.
