Whetu has arrived safe and sound here in Lubbock, and we've been having a great time learning the differences between cultures!

The phone call I received this morning from Whataburger:

Cashier's Voice: Uh...you have a...uh...friend here...?
Me: Yeah...
Cashier's Voice: She...uh...thinks you're gonna...uh...meet her...?
Me: Yeah, tell her I'll be right there!
Cashier's Voice: Uh...okay...

She'll post on here in just a bit, just wanted to let everyone know!

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Whoohoo!

now, ordinarily, I'm obiged to be patriotic and bag out the Kiwi nation at all costs (Kiwi's are likewise obiged to bag out Aussies, especially about cricket and union), but i think we shall consider this an ANZAC mission

GO WHETU! (look out for Jeremy, he is a smooth talker... and Billy too for that matter!!!)

Hi Tim

Hi babel

Sunflower, no I didn't take the lawnmower! I took the SUV and it only broke down once

And Calla... GO ALL BLACKS!

Texas so far is very flat, very hot and very smelly They keep their cattle in little enclosures on the side of the road. Man, do those things stink!

Billy and Jeremy are both Southern Gentlemen. Who said chivalry was dead? I arrived here on Sunday morning and by midnight that night we had gone to IHOP and had pancakes for breakfast, thoroughly toured the biggest department store I had ever seen (where Billy bought every sugar-based food ever invented, but also bought me some fruit and veges), went 10-pin bowling, played pool and watched a DVD of some Texan comedians. I also got to meet some of their friends and of course all Billy's fish!

The journey was awesome, my hosts are charming and I'm having a whale of a time. I just wish there was a little more water and a little less heat in this place! Oh yeah, I'm in the middle of a desert... I forgot...

Sounds like you're having fun, Whetu! One of these days I need to get back to Texas... I was born there, but have no memory of it. Sounds like a nice place though

eh, you're only in the flat-and-extremely-hot-and-dry part of texas you need to see the rest of the state to truly appreciate it. if you go further west and south you will be in mountains, if you keep going east you will be in pine forest and if you go east and south you will reach the gulf of mexico there's only a few types of land that texas doesn't have, and plenty of space to roam in

Dallas just recovered from flooding, and it's actually not smelly at all. No offense to that side of Texas, but because of the natural gas, west Texas... is smelly.
