dam - did Gary lose everything

Come and live in the UK Gary - it may rain all the time, but we hardly ever lose power over it!!!

Thanks...

The awesome power of wind that can blow over a huge fat tree, many, has my respect...

Every traffic light in town was either laying on the street or totally out.

I must give credit to the utility companies that performed miracles here. They worked their butts off to restore power and phone service to the area.

Hi there Gary,
I'm glad to hear that you are still fine. It's scary to think about how bad it is there. I mentioned earlier someplace else that I remember when Allison came through here it was awful...I can't imagine it staying that way like it has been for you...As of now I'd be willing to take a hurricane to save you and the other Floridians the misery of any more rain...God Bless you and keep you safe...Love, Heidi

Mr Gary,

I moved from Orlando up here to Jacksonville right at the begining of August this year... All of these hurricanes that have been going straight through Florida are a constant reminder that it was a good thing to move!

I watched the news (while I had power and after I got power back) and they were showing Vero Beach. I thought about you while they were showing you all basically under-water.

I'm glad you are okay and I am solemnly sorry for these circumstances. I pray that this is the end of these wretched storms...although the season is not over until the end of November...

Good Luck.

Jamie

Just signing on from Hurricane Jeanne...

A bit more damage to the house, chain link fence knocked down, some sofits (overhang) blown out, more roof shingles blown off and no power for five days.

No fish to lose this time around.

This is the first time in over 90 years that Vero Beach has experienced a hurricane, not to mention two of them so close together.

Many mobile homes were destroyed, whole roofs blown off, carports and screened-in pool enclosures blown to bits. One mobile home park containing 4600 homes was so badly damaged it may be permanently closed.

Many people are in a very desperate situation here and in other counties because they lost their employment, homes, food and water supplies.

Single, divorced women with children who lost everything are suffering beyond belief as are the poor who depend on their meager wages to survive.

"War zone" would describe many parts of this county with people living in backyard tents and waiting in line for meals, ice and water.

How about we gather all of our extension cords and power strips and connect them together and get some electricity to those who might have fish left? Gary had said that it is totally uncommon for them to get this many hurricanes back to back, it will be a long time before things get back to normal, at least 6 months or more...

No, insurance does not cover the fish. And yes there are things you can do, but sad to say 9 days without power for tropicals is just too much.

Even if through some miracle they did make it. Mr. G has been hit with another hurricane, and as he has not been around since I'm betting he is again without power. They would surly be done for now.

I hope he is ok...again.

but was it Hurricane Ivan that knocked out Aura (sp?) in FL?

Thats ORA, and they did get hit by Ivan. They are also right in the path of this new one. Almost all of their holding/grow out tanks are outside, and its expected that the ORA frags will be atleast 6 months before they begin shipping again.

Not sure, but was it Hurricane Ivan that knocked out Aura (sp?) in FL? Suppositly, prices on captive raised clowns and such are going to go up.

Feel free to re-mail.

Hurricane Frances put a dent in communication when all power was lost for nine days.

Sure is good to hear from you, Gary. Hope you weathered the storm(s) okay. Did everyone (including those with fins) make it through okay ? Did you sustain much damage ?
