I was just wonderin how most people got into fish keeping.
Me, it was a personal experience. I walked into a LFS, and instantly was drawn to a BEAUtIFUL Volitan (sorry spelling) lionfish, and even know I still hope to have one later in life.

When we firt moved into our apartment, we met a guy downstairs who had a 17 gallon stuck back into a little corner in the wall. I had wondered what to do with that same little corner in my room and decided to fill it with a 29 gallon. Sinch then, I have expanded and now have 4 tanks and can't wait to get more

i was brought up with fish in my blood. both sides of the family were fish keepers so i was my destany to be a fish keeper.

Me, well... it wasn't ENTIRELY my choice. My sister and nephew moved out, leaving behind an ugly little blue VT betta in a drinking cup sized container. Since I love all animals (more than I love people ), I couldn't say "no" when mom asked me to take care of the poor fishie.

Eventually, I wanted a new tank for him, so I took a 10g that used to house frogs, and then I wanted tankmates for him, and it just snowballed from there...

Well, my mom kept fish ages ago, but got rid of everything maybe a dozen years ago.

MY fishkeeping experience began because *takes a deep breath* my mom's allergic to almost anything with fur, my dad hates birds (says they're too messy and noisy), my sister is freaked out by most reptiles... and I wanted a pet! My mom was willing to let me have rats and keep them in my room, but my dad had a hissy fit. *sigh* I love my fish, but I wanted a snuggley pet.

Now we have an english cocker spaniel that is nicely hypoallergenic, and it took us months to convince my dad to get one. *rolls eyes* He's not big into pets.

I got a tank for my 10th B-day, and was hooked when the two angels I had bred. Had to get more tanks for the fry, and well, that led to the over 100 tanks I have today. lol
