I just cycled my 20 gallon tank in 5 days.

Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrites - .03 ppm (as of lastnight, but i think they went down)
Nitrates - 10 ppm

If anyone is setting up a new tank, seeding it with a filter HAS to be the best way, this is what I did, and phew.. it went fast.

Acually, all of this time, I was trying to find an ammonia test because i thought mine was broke, in which case, i probably had no ammonia.

With seeded filter, probably a couple of days.

With a tank chock full o' plants, no time at all.

It can vary largely on the amount of ammonia/decaying matter you put in your tank during the cycle. Some people say they have really fast cycles, but it's hard to tell if the variable includes a lower amount of ammonia as well as seeded media.

If you put less ammonia in the tank, it will take shorter time for enough bacteria to form to consume that level of ammonia.

I cycled one of my 29g's in 2 days

I used a double dose of NIC, and I seeded it with a bunch of filter media.

It worked like a charm :88)
