The most we ever spent for a fish in my tank was $30 (U.S.) for Abner my albino bristle nose but he is about full grown, my other ABN's the 3" female was $10 and the juvies were $3/each (I bought them on-line, shipping was a different story).

I don't really have a particular fish in mind but that would probably be my max.

I think the most I've paid for any of the fish I currently have is $10.

I would easily drop that amount from something that's worth it either by making the money back ( breeding ) or just for the fact that I can take pride in knowing I abtained a fish of such rarity. But in all honesty I would be more inclined to buy a fish the high priced with intentions to breed.

Currently this is the most I'd pay for a fish ... living with my parents and my tanks are having problems - lol. I'm saving up for a new car (for me ) and college - so I can't afford much more.

But I'd pay this much (or this little ) for a few bettas I've seen. Most I've paid is $10/each and that was for a peacock gudgeon

I'm not a great fishkeeper yet, so I'm not willing to spend that much on a fish that may just end up dying in a day due to my mistake.
Brandi

Edit: I just read this whole post and I have to say:

I am planning on spending in the neighbourhood of $3500 on my first Asian arowana.

Why would you do that?!?!?![/font]

Depends, I usually buy smaller specimens and let them grow out for pairs.

i can't remember ever paying more then $10 for a fish but i just won an auction on a betta that I had to have. ended at $17 with $25 for overnight shipping. if he turns out to be as beautiful as described and as lovely as the picture made him out to be I'll be very happy with spending this much and will do it again in a heartbeat

$100+

This will all change when I have to support myself...

Most I've paid so far is 65.00 each (discus).
100.00+ for f/w rays is common here, haven't done this cause I don't have a big enough tank yet, and my wish fish (blue eyed plec) if any ever comes up will easily be over 250+.

Most FW rays are quite expensive on this side of the ocean as well. And the Blue Eyed Plec's original natural habitat has pretty much been nuked by pollutants, though there is a theorized river they may also come from in an area where some drug people are working. :%)

"$100+ on a albino bristlnose, Dont know why i just love them"

And to think that they go for about $6 each here...

I was thinking about that i can get 10 for $50 and postage about around $200. Now i just gotta get around quarantine . If i could do it it would be cheaper then paying $400 for 1.
